Exactly. The Fire Flower is my motivation to not get hit while Super- if I know I’m going to be offered a Fire Flower regardless of state, then I’m going to play more recklessly because I know getting hit doesn’t matter. It’s supposed to be a reward for playing well, not incentive to play poorly.

Being able to set the power-up dependent on Mario’s state is the biggest thing I felt was missing from Mario Maker. Every Mario game that uses the classic power-up system follows this rule, not having Mario Maker use it was baffling.

Well, they know people are going to milk this error for all it’s worth, so they clearly want to nip any controversy in the bud.

Most apps don’t lose compatibility with every OS update. And I can use one of the broken games as an example that Capcom clearly doesn’t care: Ghost Trick. It was broken on iOS 8, only to get a compatibility patch a few months ago. Only, guess what? It’s still not possible to restore purchases, so you can only play

Oh yeah, I loved having the cape in SMB3. It's my favorite of the Advance Remakes, and that had a lot to do with it.

HK-47 had some fantastic lines and may be the runaway fan favorite, but I could listen to Jolee Bindo talk for days.

I think that’s a great idea from a game design perspective, as it allows them to recreate them without having to make any extra padding. On the other hand, at the end of the day it would probably still feel like two separate games, and there might be people who want to jump right into the second story. Still, if you

My kill Yoshi/guilt the player level happens to be my level with the most stars. It’s also a level I posted in another Kotaku Mario Maker post, so I’m just going to say that you people are all heartless monsters. Myself included.

I’m with you on a 3DS/Vita release. Puzzle Quest just feels right on a portable. Especially one with a touchscreen.

“And to think, all this time it was YOUR argument that was toxic.”

“They were both toxic. I’ve spent the last several years building up an immunity to Internet trolls.”

“Oh yeah. Everyone thinks I meant to do that. Just play it cool, Tony.”

I looked up the script, the scene I’m thinking of was actually a conversation between Luke and Owen, not Obi-Wan. When Owen says that Obi-Wan died around the same time as Luke’s father, and Luke responds “He knew my father?”. This is also when Owen is trying to convince Luke that Ben and Obi-Wan are unrelated people

Read through the first one. On one hand, I want these to be canon just so Windy will still exist and I’m a sucker for Luke’s Tattooine friends. On the other hand, when Obi-Wan says that he knew Luke’s father and is shown using a lightsaber, that seems to contradict what we see in the movie. Someone who’s watched it

There is no way anyone who has ever used the Internet would ever associate this idea with “love and positivity”. That line genuinely sounds like an alien trying to pass themselves off as human.

And he looked weird there, too!

Does Resetti out of the ground, standing on his legs look weird to anyone else? I feel like he should have been his usual half-buried self.

I would actually love it if a game released with a “Graphics Settings: No” option and just turned into a text adventure.

WHY AM I JUST NOW LEARNING ABOUT THIS?

I feel like Isabelle should get an Amiibo proper. I mean, we’re all agreed that she’s the best character to come out of Animal Crossing, right? She’s from the newest game and she’s pretty much passed Tom Nook as the face of the series. I think she’s deserved her own Amiibo at this point.

Of course, it would sell out in

Ironically, Dick Cheney has publicly supported same-sex marriage for years.
