Absolutely... Their rights would change or be eliminated. All of the protections granted a spouse would be tossed aside and property rights would be damned in the process. Health/Life Insurance, transfer of wealth upon death, courts upending adoptions... those are the big three I can think of, I’m sure others have…

The way I’ve been seeing it lately is that their concern is actually the possibility of women having abortion *without the father’s explicit permission*. It helps if you shoe-horn all moral issues into property rights - understand the child as the father’s property, and it falls into a weird, horrifying focus.
