A planet? More like five of them. It was that many, right? And you could see all of them get hit at once as if they were within a few million miles of each other. It was ludicrous.

This is J.J. Abrams. If he can show a planet exploding as viewed from another nearby planet, then he can definitely ask the director of this to let the characters hear the roar from another time zone.
CAVEAT: I really enjoyed TFA.
Ha ha ha, have you seen some of the Star Wars message boards lately? (Yes, I’m a masochist.) Some of the fanboys who absolutely hated The Force Awakens are now saying the prequels are original and oh-so-much better than TFA. It’s hilarious.
“...completely different, with different planets, with different spaceships. You know, to make it new.”
See this is awesome. You gave a realistic take on this movie that is totally valid. You didn’t just spout some hateful line on Abrams or some nitpick that ruined your childhood. You sir are a class act.
That was my reaction after my first viewing too. After my second viewing I realised that although it reuses some CONCEPTS, the way it uses them is in all fairness a vastly different story from what we saw before. And in a lot of ways, it actually improves on the movie it’s “imitating”.
