Unlike the US, Japanese executives don’t make a huge amount of money and they do sometimes take pay cuts for the company. Iwata cut his salary by half when the company wasn’t doing well so that they wouldn’t have to do any layoffs. 

He could have all the lost knowledge of the Great Library of Alexandria at his disposal and it wouldn’t matter one iota since the indolent and pathologically uncurious slug will never process a new piece of information again in his corpulent life.
