I’m a Longhorn alumnus so my ode to him comes from an earlier time, but I remember we had our best team ever, top seed in the tourney, get trounced by him in the Final Four.  I wasn’t even mad.  I just sort of shrugged and wondered how the hell they were ever a three seed.  We couldn’t even pretend to slow him down.

Re: old age brain. In my personal experience, the onset is long before Trebek’s age.  I’m 39 and can tell my processors don’t work as fast anymore.  It’s really disturbing.

If you used the projections as your baseline, yesterday was a loss for Dems. The Republicans in the senate overperformed (R+1 or R+2 was the consensus), and the Democrats in the house were about in line with the projections (D+34 or so).

Good take. The mantra that businesses only care about profits is too broad of a stroke. There are cases where the owners’ personalities shine through, and there are cases where two different motivations simply aren’t in conflict. I think with the Alamo it may be both.
