Ok, sure. That makes an even better case, since a Fusion hatchback/wagon will be less than half that. Ford’s making money offering pretty unique performance cars in the US market (both the FiST and FoST only have a handful of competitors each) and this would add to that.

Well yeah, a wagon’s going to have a little more weight and rear overhang. But it’s miles better than the weight, height and handling of an SUV with most of the cargo capacity. If they’re seeing growth in their performance 5-doors why not try to expand that to other cars in the lineup?
