There’s a reason most new developments in aerospace are iterative rather than groundbreaking. It’s simple - the stakes of failure are much higher with aircraft than with, say, a cell phone or even a car. I’m not sure if most people understand how incredibly complex a modern aircraft really is, so most new designs

To anyone wondering - no, giving your dog an unseasoned burger will not give them pancreatitis. The concern is that many meats can be seasoned with garlic/onion which are toxic to dogs.

I think an underappreciated aspect of the growing popularity has been the deal with ESPN as well. I know cable is dying blah blah but it’s still one of the most popular channels with most people in the US having access to it. Having a commercial free broadcast of every race on a major channel definitely helped keep

That’s exactly why I would doubt the McLaren/Audi tie up. I’ve seen elsewhere that Audi was really looking to have their own team and were trying to just buy the McLaren team outright but were rebuffed. Maybe they just couldn’t find a team that was willing to sell?

Is that what the Mclaren looked like for Bahrain? They were so slow they were barely shown during the race.

Doesn’t basic economics prove this false? Cars are not a scarce good in normal times and there’s plenty of competition. If Stellantis thinks they can make more $ overall and get more truck market share they’ll pump out plenty of Rams even if they have to discount them slightly, and GM/Ford will have to respond.

I wonder if F1 will have much choice once sanctions are imposed. I imagine part of running a race would involve payments to local Russian hotels/vendors/etc. which might be illegal after UK/EU/US sanctions.

Damn you for posting that picture. That thing will haunt my dreams

I’ll agree with one caveat - you have to add New Haven to the list. It’s a distinct style from NY, and seeing as some of the oldest pizzerias in the country are there I’d say they deserve their 0wn category.

“Also, what the hell is “Boston Style” pizza? Is it like a big waffle covered in clam chowder and beer?”

I think this is the money quote from that article -

What’s the argument for this bill? Is this just a naked attempt by car dealers to have less liability, or is there actually some justification they’re spinning for it?

I think this is a great idea, but less so for the road tripper on vacation and more so for business travel. That’s what these large chains like hilton/mariott/etc. rely on, and it’d be a good way to differentiate themselves if they can court EV owners. They wouldn’t need to be high power and cost fast chargers, just

I get sideways looks from my dad when I refer them as “mercs” instead of benzes or just mercedes. I definitely picked that up from Top Gear.

It seems you fell asleep while finishing your comment. Totally understandable while looking at this.

Realistically who would buy this in the US? They already have the explorer for a midsize 3 row, the bronco for the off-road crowd, and the expedition as a a BOF 3-row. What’s the market for a slightly smaller expedition that’s more off-road focused? Seems like a pretty small niche that can mostly be filled with the

Well, the US just had two new airlines debut in the past year - Avelo and Breeze. It’s too early to say if they’ll be successful, but clearly the up front costs aren’t too much to try.

Thee NASA requirement for vibrations on unmanned systems I’ve seen is 14.1 G (rms). Granted that’s random vibration and that wouldn’t be as much of a concern with this system, but it gives you an idea of the scale we’re talking about here. 10,000 Gs is insane.

Why does it seems like everyone who owns a Magnum likes to put terrible, oversized chrome rims on it? Yeesh

Eh, not every driver needs to be an A-lister. Verstappen has proven he’s good enough to duke it out with arguably the best driver this sport has ever seen. As long as he keeps up that talent he doesn’t need to be popular off the track, he’ll get any contract he wants along with plenty of sponsor $. The best driver on
