AWWWWW YEAAAAAAAH. Way to go - that’s an important milestone, and sounds like you really impressed the judge!

YAAAASSSSS. Well, sounds like you were in the normal bounds of snapping because what she wanted was pretty unreasonable. Too bad the customer is always right, but glad your review made it past the hiccup.
That is really fantastic. I hope that you buy yourself some really amazing new sheets that make you never want to leave your new bed again!
Whew - you really deserve some ‘me’ time! Hopefully this brought in some extra cash (or potential cash) to not only make it worth it, but also so that you can afford to relax a bit in February.
Congratulations on your continued independence! I know how awful it can be losing it psychologically. I’m hoping In-Home Support can keep you moving forward and keep you where you want to be.
Look at you go! I haaaate writing abstracts with a passion - glad you got those knocked out.
She was on the policy at one time, but wanted her own. If someone loses their license or simply doesn’t have a car or drive (maybe moves to a city where they use public transportation), they’re stuck if they’re in college, under 21, and unmarried according to my insurance policy’s email: “company’s guidelines do not…
Yup! Directly from my insurance company’s email: “company’s guidelines do not allow them to remove a driver under the age of 21 unless they are no longer a student and depend on your support or they are married.” I had it backward - if you have a college student who’s unmarried and doesn’t have a car or drive, you…
Awesome! I definitely know the feeling - I am like that with logging into my bank accounts (uggghhh). You can take even more ownership over it by making it into a sorting game, maybe getting folders or boxes for different types of mail to further lower the anxiety now that you’ve overcome one first hurdle.
Well done on sticking up for your team member - and obviously you did it in a tactful and professional manner in order for the prickly person to take it so well!
Congratulations to you! Hopefully it will bring you bigger and better things as the internship progresses.
Congratulations on the gig! Hopefully they will assign you to your preferred area. One of the co-valedictorians of my class was accepted to Duke, MIT, Harvard, and Oxford. He chose to go to a state university and dropped out within 3 months and has never gone back. It’s just a label. :)
I tried to take my daughter off of my policy because she was getting her own policy. I was told I could not do that until she was married OR enrolled in college. Uhhhhhh? We emailed over her new policy, but if we had a non-college-enrolled child who wasn’t driving or licensed? We’d be stuck paying for her.…
The Alienist - and then will probably pick up the book.
WEEKLY ACHIEVEMENT THREAD!!!
What have you done this past week that you’re proud of? Not lit someone or your workplace on fire? Avoided shoving an annoying family member from behind? Got a promotion or procured employment? Brag on yourself here so we can celebrate you!
Thank you, and good point! I’m at an R1 university, but it it not a land-grant one. Hey, if mine doesn’t go for it, then maybe I can head down the road to the only land-grant university in my state.
I have chemical (hormone-based) depression, and I completely feel you. Here’s to hitting that warm water and having clean hair!
GOOD FOR YOU. Holy hell, is it 2018 where some guy is remarking on your weight? Can you imagine what he’d be like if you actually got really serious with him - how many other things would he pick apart? I pity the next woman he pesters to go out with him - hopefully she is as strong as you are. I’m so happy to hear…
I have two closets full of yarn, plus a bureau of yarn. I’m destashing hardcore by making crazy blankets (lots of remnants; luckily not too many crazy colors) for the local homeless. I’m on my 3rd blanket and have a friend who distributes them directly to those in need on corners and homeless camps. I used to, but…
Looking at your picture, I just realized that I don’t think I’ve ever seen chickens in the snow before. Ducks and geese, sure. But never chickens. They are beautiful! My friend sold his organic farm so I really miss having fresh eggs every week. Hopefully they’ll keep producing and it will warm up for them soon.
