This would be the best, most insensitively Darwinian machine ever to grace public roads.

Fair enough. But this post is a point of argument for why you shouldn't linger behind an impaired driver.
But you see, I'm not gonna do that. facw described a car that was braking randomly and at times going under the speed limit. Even if he doesn't force a hard braking maneuver, my slow speed now puts me at risk with faster drivers coming up behind me. And if everyone does what you suggest, you soon have a nice pile up…
Makes sense, I suppose. But on an interstate (which this photo appears to show) I am taking facw's advice every time. Put the threat safely behind you and keep a close eye on your six in case he reemerges. The problem with trailing a guy like this on a freeway is pretty clear: If he wrecks, you may be forced to stand…
With the stubby wings it looks a lot like an old F-104 Starfighter.
Of nothing. The Mig-25 Foxbat was a unique aircraft at the time, designed to intercept high-flying, supersonic bombers like the proposed Valkyrie. The Foxbat may look a bit like the F-15, but it pre-dated that aircraft and in fact drove a reassessment of the F-15 program during its development.
This is an interesting one. We have the '14 Mazda6 (my wife's car). My main complaint is that it is underpowered. We have the 6-speed manual, which helps, but that car is very much a slow puller and could use another 30 to 40 horses. Given the MPG rating on it though, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. Still, a Mazda…
3. Honda Fit: I'm typically not disappointed by Honda when it comes to daily-driven Grocery Getters. At the very least, Honda makes small cars that you can live with every day. The Fit looked very promising when I borrowed it for a long road trip, I can't believe how much stuff you can pack into this little thing. The…
I think you meant to say the current Abarth is a joy as a performance car. It's quirky, riddled with flaws, and fun as all hell. You don't buy a 90-inch wheelbase micro-hatchback to win drag races and outcarve rear-wheel drive sports cars. You buy it because there is something wrong with you. Because you value…
The Fit isn't nearly as bad as Raphael makes it out here. My 2nd gen Fit has been great. Fun to drive on backroads and surface streets, dead reliable, and up to any task (camping, road trips, etc.). It's not great for longer drives and is loud at speed, but it is still a fine, small car that has simply been surpassed…
I can see how folks can be a bit disappointed with a $15K Honda econobox, when it did earn so much praise. Still, the car is what it is—small, cheap, utilitarian transportation with an old-school Honda edge. And it's frankly great at that.
The F16 is one of the all-time great warplane values, that's for sure.
Direct radiation effects aren't a concern. But if fission products get into the environment over time, they can end up in the food chain. So yeah, it's still bad.
I just disagree with you on the hardship of wearing a seat belt. But you are right about the article. 8 people out of 400 were hurt. My bet is many of those were up to use the rest room. And here's a first-person account of the incident (scroll down to comment by Upendra Singh) that seems to indicate exactly that.
I feel compelled to point out that 8 out of 400 people amounts to 2% of passengers. It's not like half the cabin was unbuckled and dancing in the aisles (which is what the hectoring tone of this article would have you believe). Given that the plane was nearing its destination, it's very possible that half or more of…
This never gets old.
Talk about first-world problems...
Yep, happens all the time with wide receivers. Before the snap they will look to the side judge and put up their outside hand to them, asking confirmation that they are onside and in proper alignment.
I'm disagreeing that this could have happened to anyone changing from the middle lane. The truck the woman eventually hit reveals itself before her car has even fully departed the left-most lane (as shown at 0:13 below). If she had set herself behind the yellow truck, allowed a bit of space, and shaded right to get a…
I disagree. That truck in the exit lane was visible from the middle lane, but this lady wasn't there. At 0:12 when she was STILL in the left-most lane, and at 0:13 she was only just entering the middle lane. She drove completely blind into the exit lane.
