Fineeeeee, be technical, MX-5 LED Swap. I’ve been slowing changing bulbs out for LEDs in the RF and Friday my latest additions showed up in the mail and they turned out to be way easier to install than I thought - I think I picked up a better method to do it than is recommended, so I am hoping this is helpful for some…
Slow day at work so I tinkered with some digital coloring - something I haven’t done much of in about 5 or so years. Not perfect, but not bad for no photoshop. It started out I was hunting for a more summery Miata apple watch background, then spiraled in to the above.
Last weekend I dropped the Mrs off at a vineyard for a junior league meeting (I’m sure lots of work got done), then took the RF for a jaunt around the twisties. Found a few decent photo spots, though I’m lacking the proper skills to take the best pics - twas still fun!
And the camera had no issues popping right in to place. I think it’s supposed to be 3M’d in place, so I will most likely follow up with that and maybe some extra sealant around the lens as a good chunk of the reviews recommend it.
Quick refresher, I found this cord coiled up in the trunk of the Miata a couple weekends ago while installing some sequential turn signals. After a bit of digging, the Miata hive mind helped me determine it’s the wiring for the aftermarket back up cam of choice from Ventura Technology. As I’m sure all of us have…
I purchased sequential LED blinker bulbs for the Miata from iJDMToy. They turned out great, but my other discovery while installing them is what really got me excited.
The drive in yesterday morning was beautiful and stuff. Tried to stop in time to get a pic of the rainbow plus sun rise combo.

You just sold your project car - next guy has it, fixed it well enough, and plans to flip it. Do you want to know? Do you REALLY want to know?
I had the first problem with the Miata, see link below in case you weren’t one of the - HOLY BALLLS 18k people read that?! Are you kidding me???
Anyway, back on topic, roof drain problem in the RF is fixed for now.
Reupped for the weekday folk and to say thanks for all the recommendations!
Well, some of you will say the first problem is that it’s automatic - but I’ve experienced my first actual problem with the MX5. There’s a blocked drainage line causing water to back up in to the driver’s side of the interior. Big thanks to The Actual RootWyrm for piquing my interest after complaining about my…
I had this style aftermarket floormat in the Abarth and absolutely loved it! So I picked up a set for the MX-5 and CX-5.
First post, 2/23/2016 - I don’t really miss that TSX (and I had to share it to oppo bc I didn’t know what I was doing)
In a strange turn of events, my wife and I are nearing the closing date to sell our house. We are moving to a high rise in downtown Nashville. We were trying to sell over the summer, but realized we needed to do about $15k-$20k worth of upgrades to make things more current. So we pulled out of the market and started…
I regularly buy discount gift cards through an assortment of websites that are on the up and up. I recently took a risk on an eBay one that I fully expected to be a scam (heavily discounted from a new/limited but all positive feedback account). Figured with the security of paypal and a burner eBay account - what’s the…
I don’t sport, yet I traded for a signed sports jersey. I traded that jersey for FOUR signed sports helmets. What this really means, I will have to deal with sports people to make more trades happen. Unless you’re sports people that want to trade, I’m happy to deal with oppo sports people.
I have an offer to trade my signed Mariota Jersey for someone else’s project “cafe racer” which I’ve always interpreted as the rat rod of motorcycles. Furthering that thought, I jump to lazy builds with half assed work. Which is where I think this 1980 CB750 is at. However, I’m just trying to trade up for things and I…
I’ve wanted to participate in a poker run for a while now, but I’ve always just missed them. So in total opposite fashion, I’ve signed up for a poker run in May, just a little ahead of schedule.
Gold, black, and two red sets of metal valve stem covers for a grand total of 54 cents. Purchased using only eBay bucks. Thinking I’ll just turn around and sell them for a couple bucks or maybe just keep it festive with rotating sets of valve stem covers. Who knows?! Either way, free money well spent.
