Are condoms not reliable and non invasive? They aren't as effective as the pill, sure, but a heck of a lot less invasive. And they are very, very reliable if you use them correctly. Just like the pill is not very effective if you don't use it correctly.

I really can't get up in arms over something someone's ancestors did hundreds of years before he was born. If it was his parents and he grew up there treating people horribly, sure, but hundreds of years ago no. I say his only responsibility is to be a good person now, not apologize for his ancestors or slavery.

I believe his addiction issues started long before he had children. Though I agree that plenty of us are safe from drug addiction as you can't get addicted to something you never try. Things like food or alcohol addiction are harder to avoid IMO.

I think the possibility of something good coming of it, even one person who hears about it and has their mind changed about trying drugs, is not a bad thing. He's not here to hear about it and hopefully his family has better things to do than google his death and read about it.

I agree completely that its a horrible choice and that you're risking your life every time you do it. But I still see nothing wrong with compassion for someone who does that. Same with suicide. There is more at play than just "seems like a nice day to kill myself." Had he been driving while high and killed someone…

Even if starting to take drugs is a stupid dangerous choice, it never hurts to have compassion for someone who makes a bad decision and ends up paying for it with their life.
