Yes; I drive a Camry.

If only there were an article posted elsewhere on this site that explained the difference between European and US tow ratings....

Many of those vehicles even have tow ratings in other markets. I know my Golf R has a tow rating in Europe, but here in the US it has no tow rating.

Are you minivan drink less gas ?

On average an SUV gets on average 23% (from memory but verified) less miles per gallon than a comparable sedan. This makes perfect sense when you think about the added weight from the taller suspension, bigger wheels and tires, and more robust chassis designed for offroading (right) and more metal to enclose more

What you’ve also illustrated is the marketing bullshit of tow ratings. The RAV4 is the smaller platform than the one the Camry shares with the Highlander (tow rating: 5000 lbs.), yet it’s rated at 0 for towing. Just another way the manufacturers guide people into the higher profit vehicle. And that’s the general rule:

Neutral: Nothing. Embrace it.

I’ve lived through the transition from wagons to minivans to SUVs and it goes basically like this:

I still maintain that one of the basest, root-causes of the CUV/SUV boom is because most households can’t afford multiple vehicles per driver any more, and the most versatile tool is usually the most useful one; so no work truck in the drive, and the sedan for driving to church on Sunday, any more.

Fortunate Son plays in the distance

They’re obviously better than they used to be...but you have a lot of people who will feel a $2-3 increase per gallon HARD. When you consider a lot of folks are living beyond their means to start and there is no excess savings month to month, an extra $100-200, whatever it might be is a big hit. Back of napkin math, a

Gas prices.

One can hope that much like it happened with station wagons and minivans, as Gen Z ages they will come to look upon SUVs as dad and mom cars and reject them outright.

That’s what happens when you add American aggression to an otherwise conciliatory interrogative word.

neutral, downhill, tailwind.

It’s Eh?...not Eh! Jeez...

“Thanks Sisters and Brothers at Oshawa…All The Best! EH!!!!” read a banner on the rank carrying the frame.

Plus the Atlas gets 56 mpg! (According to Volkswagen)

This is true to some extent. A lot of it has to do with the financial magicians working behind the scenes to make the payments on a $45k pickup truck look about the same as the payments on a $30k pickup truck. So real prices slowly tick up without people really noticing it so they can end up spending $100k on $60k

Car industry is also totally reliant on low interest rates. I paid 8% interest for a car back in the 90's.

If buying cars was strictly a financial decision, this site wouldn’t exist. The used car fetish here and other enthusiast sites has always been inexplicable to me, especially when (contrary to this article), there are lots of attainable new options out there.
