People who knew him previously say this is completely out of character. A Harvard law degree is for the overwhelming majority of participants a guarantee of lifelong, secure employment. The fact that this guy’s life suddenly went off the rails after he’d accomplished what he did points to mental illness.

Well she’s going to jail, so she seems willing to suffer discomfort.

Dude, the guy is almost certainly suffering from mental illness (not from vaccines, of course); not only did he have an apparently flawless military record with the marines, he went to Harvard law school and managed to join the bar. This is not a guy who lucidly decide to become an ineffective kidnapper.

Winter is the best season, easily. 70-degree nights, gentle breezes, mojitos on the beach.

I don’t know of a single other scholarship that explicitly prohibits nudity in the application materials...

Gawker’s charity is employing millenial bloggers with liberal arts degrees who would otherwise not be able to support themself...

I doubt any 18 year olds would feel pressured to apply to Pornhub for a scholarship; if anything, the majority would be pressured to not to.

So instead of “suing the internet” she is threatening to come after the people who used her image? Considering that there is presumably some sort of paper trail leading to them, that seems a perfectly reasonable threat to make. Yes, her politics are objectionable in general but her complaints here are perfectly

I can respect civil disobedience, even if I don’t agree with it. Of course, civil disobedience requires one actually submit to the punishment incurred by breaking the laws.

““Oh, how terrible having human emotions must be for you!””

Ehh, it frequently involves a substantial investment on the part of the buyer. I don’t blame someone for coming after it.

Wait a minute though; I see the double standard go the other way, where it’s presumed to be the man’s fault if he’s rejected by his wife (and also the man’s fault if he rejects her). Men and women can be equally at fault when it comes to ruining relationships.

Or, alternately, she’s rejected him as that connection?

Yep! It seems to me like whoever wrote it really wanted to do an American-style antihero cop story but just couldn’t maintain that balance between right and wrong that you need for that kind of character and just turned Luther unambiguously a bad guy. When Luther helped Alice escape he basically became complicit in

Subway is acceptable for me; it’s moderately priced, will load up on veggies without me having to ask, and when I’m counting calories easy to calculate and relatively filling compared to how many calories they are. Jimmy John’s is much tastier, though if available I will hit them up ahead of subway.

Ugh, Luther was a good show up until it started making zero sense. But Elba was definitely good in it.

The best James Bond was Sean Connery precisely BECAUSE he was so street (and Connery was and still is a lot more “street” than Elba). They took a thuggish street kid, dressed him impeccably, and had him read the elegant, suave lines, but his toughness showed through in them and that was a great combination.

My issue with Quizno’s is how unbelievably stingy they are with vegetables. It’s happened at every Quizno’s I’ve been to so it has to be corporate policy, and sometimes I just want a mediocre sandwich without having to constantly request more onions.

There’s no such thing as a superfood. Romaine is slightly better in terms of certain nutrients, namely potassium and vitamin A, but there are a lot of calorically more worthwhile foods that have greater amounts of both.

Californians need to believe that every morsel of food in their state is just so much better than anything you can get elsewhere; it extends to fast food, truck food, whatever. It’s a little sad.
