Wasn’t wholly familiar with Syndergaard’s starts so was just giving an example of something that could be an issue from my own experience watching my team. Good point about the new balls.

You’d need to look through each start, but it could come down to framing. For instance Yu Darvish this year as been awful with Wilson Contreras a markedly bad framer, but barely walks anyone with Victor Caratini.  Either way, pitchers are kinda headcases so if your pitcher believes he doesn’t work well with a catcher…
