My first car was a ‘73 LTD. The trunk rust was so bad that I lost my jack when I turned.

I hear you. It’s one of the biggest frustrations about doing an overview in two hours, Rockchops. We hope to be able to garner interest enough in the premise to serialize this and bring you huge chunks on one topic in a single episode.
Yeesh. But it DID get 43 mpg.
OttoParts, you’re TOTALLY right. We had built a huge Bullit sequence in this, but the film rights became unavailable for the time. Our hope is to do an all Car Chase episode of Driving America with Bullit, French Connection, etc.
“Hondamatic” - Awesome. My family drove cross country in a CVCC in ‘76. Mom, Dad, three kids and a dog. Sucked.
Oh yes. Especially since it’s been on the commercial for so long.
oh how we tried
You’re sort of right. Given the engine, transmission and suspension technology we’ve had in the last 40 years or so, yes, it’s slower to drift. Not, however, when you have a bare engine on a chassis at the turn of the 20th century. Re-accelerating out of the turn was not as efficient.
Absolutely, Chris. It’s an endless amount of coolness we’ve gotten from racing innovations.
...or at least be reminded of how “awesome” your family vacation was...
Not yet.
totally
The culture of cars is SO much about who we are. Whatever we drive. Whatever era.
Hey, Jarrett. I’ve made a bunch of shows about cars over the years and really wanted to go deeper into our larger connection to them. Matt H just had to be involved, as the greatest contemporary voice in cars today. Even in two hours, we just scratch the surface... Hopefully, we can do more!
