Rucka has done a lot of great comics work but you’re definitely better checking out his indie stuff like Whiteout, Queen and Country, Stumptown etc. His superhero stuff isn’t nearly as good, IMHO, except for Gotham Central which is superb.

One detail I’m surprised I’ve not seen anyone pick up on yet - it’s mentioned the Seventh Cavalry had a stash of “synthetic lithium” batteries that supposedly are cancerous.

Not exactly a coming out moment, but the scene in Halt and Catch Fire between Joe and Haley at the fast food restaurant is so powerfully nuanced and moving it absolutely deserves recognition here. Joe’s knowing glance is so beautifully captured. Honestly, HACF is just perfect and if you haven’t seen it you really

Natasha better still be alive because the disrespect shown to her death in this movie was INFURIATING

Anthony!

Oh good, I was hoping someone else would choose these.

*cries for Carter*

Just finished rewatching Person of Interest season 3, and there are quite a few 3-episode blocks I could pick from it.

Glad someone else’s pick was Person of Interest! Just finished rewatching season 3 last night, and it is an excellent season of TV all the way around.

Ahem:

I did not expect Jessica and Matt to be hands down my favorite thing about The Defenders, but here we are. They gave the best performances, AND their relationship actually made sense in terms of how they were able to both see past the initial surface abrasiveness of the other

If all we get more of the Defenders after this is just Matt and Jessica shooting the breeze, it would please me greatly.

I really want another season of The Defenders, somehow. Totally to my surprise, Charlie Cox and Krysten Ritter together as Matt and Jessica were just electric & them grudgingly earning each others’ respect over the course of the season worked amazingly effectively.

It would be a shame for Marvel/Disney to abandon Daredevil right now when they have someone like Charlie Cox playing him. Throughout the show, even when the writing ebbed, Cox was always able to perfectly play all sides of the character. I believed him to be the charming lawyer, the fighting machine running solely on

I hope we get more Daredevil with Charlie Cox, somehow someway. What a thoughtful, introspective guy! I love finding out how an actor analyzes character, and how they evolve in their performance. He does such a great job.

Also lots of positive representation going on with Legends. Sara and Constantine are bisexual, Mick is a reformed (sort of) criminal, Nora Dahrk is a witch, Zari is a Muslim, Ava is a clone from the future, Charlie is a magical shapeshifter, Gideon is an AI, and Ray and Nate are nerds. But all its characters are

The Legends on the AV Club best of TV list?! As Dr. Martin Stein would say, “Astonishing!”

Since AVC isn’t covering “Fresh Off the Boat” anymore, I’ll just post here about Ming-Na Wen’s terrific guest appearance this week.

I’m pretty sure Disney is aware and it was at least part of the reason they insist ABC keeps it. They also mentioned that AoS delayed numbers were so good it was part of their decision to give it 6th season.

Best use of a dog as a character on a team was Person of Interest. Watching that group of anti-social personalities bond while competing for the dog’s affection was one of the most entertaining parts of the show.
