This is generally an excuse people make when they lose a lot. Yes, Mario Kart has elements of luck involved, but stay in any room long enough or race a whole lot, and you’ll notice the same people tend to win or get close to winning every single race in a lobby. Skill IS a factor as you have to know the track and

But it does, the computer is actually accepting and registering button inputs, it’s vastly smoother and you can totally feel it’s more snappy.

Much like how some of my coworkers focus on YouTube personalities and streamers, I think it’s valuable to write about speedrunners. Stories about what gamers are doing help us understand the culture surrounding the media and surrounding specific games.

I highly doubt “internet podium 1st place” is a motivating factor for many. Everyone has their reasons and, believe it or not, they can make money doing it. So, not a waste of time.

That sounds a bit anecdotal.

I love these... However they never seem to take into account the availability of qualified people. I’d love to see more women in tech and I get lectured about it by my HR rep every time I post a job... However in the last 5+ years I’ve only had one woman apply, she wasn’t qualified. I’d have loved to have hired her

The rare occasions I’ve seen the place I live depicted in a video game had a lot of novelty for me. To each his own.

This level was a lot of fun and this is a great write up about its strengths. That said, I tackled the level about 100% the opposite way which may say even more about the strengths of the level design.
