I know it's available on the wii VC, and that you can still make purchases from that VC even if you're accessing it via the Wii U's wii mode. In fact, after reading this I'm going to play it this weekend just to get it fresh in my memory for when the 3ds version comes out!

I have a similar issue where you can't trigger events or items or portals using the X button (PS4). You then have to re-load your save to fix it. Fast travel, or returning to a camp and resting have no effect. If I don't reload fast enough, the game crashes within the next few minutes.

To be fair, it's like those characters are trapped in an earlier time. I think the 3ds and even the XL's screen is too small for a game like this that uses 3 dimensional space for puzzles. the reason most app style puzzle games work is that they use a flat space that's easy to grasp on our smaller screens.
