I can get behind Willenium, but you are on your own with Wild Wild West. Sorry... :)

Oh man! I love that movie, too. Michael Douglas made for a dreamy head of state.

Field of Dreams is on TCM right now, so of course I dropped everything to watch. It's my favorite movie of all time. Interestingly, I don't much care for baseball...

First, let me say that this is sad for everyone involved. I feel terrible for Sophia and her Dads, but I feel even worse for this poor kid whose mother is keeping him from making friends due to her outdated, bigoted belief system.

Ditto. I was on the same pill for 10 years with absolutely zero side effects; I didn't know anyone who had issues with the pill, though. I was mainly annoyed that many of my girlfriends were all, "OMG! My skin has totally cleared up!" whilst I was frantically covering my zits through college...

I'm actually for this in theory because when I started reading Divergent only the first two books had been released (and I loved the first two). And then I eagerly waited for the release of the third, bought it the day it came out, and was seriously disappointed.

I met my now-husband at a Passover Seder. The hostess had been my mother's college roommate. I believe that the hostess and my mother were attempting to set me up with her son. Mr. Tuxedo was there as the son's guest, having been his college roommate. The mothers' plan didn't work, but I did end up driving Mr. Tuxedo

I did not. Just a secular, private school kid.

I was just surprised because the post clearly implies that Bubbe and Grandma are the same person.

Really?

Facebook came out my freshman year of college, but my senior year of high school a group of girls tried to start an email chain not regarding prom dresses, but graduation dresses. (We all wore white dresses instead of caps and gowns.) The email chain didn't catch on and I ended up wearing the same dress as another

That's no way to live long term, but people have done way crazier and more dangerous things for money. She seems happy; can't we let her have this moment?

You're my hero! Thanks!! :)

Haha I will. The people here are all very friendly, but as I mentioned in another comment, they've all lived here their entire lives and have their own friend groups and it's just so hard to break in! There are very few people here who are, like I am, new in town...

Oh, if only I lived in a location close to my hometown! :)

Exact. Same. Boat.

Thanks! That's three people who have recommended Meetup.com, so I guess I'll give it a shot! My husband and I have tossed around trying to start a co-ed book club with the one couple friends we have made so far, so maybe we'll actually move forward with that, too! My big thing is just wanting girl friends. I would

I'm pretty outgoing, too, and I guess my concern is less that I'll have something to say and more that people will respond, "Why are you talking to me?!" Haha. Clearly I just need to run into someone like you! :)

In theory I love this idea, but how would I go about striking up conversation? I'm awkward and would probably just stare at someone slightly too long until they up and left. Haha
