Advance Wars has always been at the top of my list for baffling omissions of the untapped Nintendo back catalog.

Everything you said makes complete sense, (and this is my fault for poor clarification) when I said “old” I was meaning more in-between the past 10-30 years. Generally just a comparable timeframe to the age of the games you would consider porting.

That picture is definitely of Cincinnati lol Not sure how they fudge that one up.

Agreed, you bring up a lot of great points. I need to spend some time researching what you’re talking about in terms of those older arcade machines. Sounds really cool.

You’re totally right on the XBOX One thing, I own a PS4 and I only knew they did streaming and not software emulation.

That’s fair, but you’re also cherry picking a specific generation of games(PS1,PSP) and porting to PC. Both significantly easier than porting a PS3 game to PS4 or PS7(whatever really).

Right, but still that effort had to be put in. With scaling from old DVD’s to BluRays doesn’t really require any sort of tech conversion like that.

I think a lot of game devs would argue that porting a game from 30 years ago is significantly less difficult than porting a game from 10 years ago and I anticipate that in another 20 years, we’ll be saying the same.

This is my fault for not clarifying, but I think it’s a bit disingenuous to try and equate the porting of a game from 1999 to modernizing a film from 1927.

Yeah those are great points to bring up, but again without getting into much of the techy details— porting an older PS1 game to PC != porting it to current gen consoles.

I apologize I should’ve clarified my point, I’m not talking about restoring a film that is 50+ years old. I’m talking in regards to porting films that are comparably aged to the age of games we are trying to port as well.

I completely understand what you’re saying here, but I also think the technical issues are a little more nuanced than that. I think without getting too much into technicals details, any sensible person would agree that transposing an old film to modern technologies is much easier to do than updating a classic video

I’ve tried to listen to Rubin myself, and he’s wayyy more annoying and significantly less funny than Maher ever is. I thought I’d really like Rubin too...

Either you’re interpreting my comment the wrong way, I’m lost on the sarcasm, or I am just unable to comprehend exactly what it is you’re trying to prove.

Lol

“Pacifism is a lie.”

LOL “I’m very normal” aka I’m 50+, moderately disappointed with my life, divorced, with nothing better to do, but get drunk on strawberry margaritas and spout ignorant bullshit at a Traders Joe’s checkout line to people I don’t even know.

No not at all. I work for a major University in the States. Specifically, the medical school side of it and our hospital that is branded with the Universities name is actually run by another company.

Psh well fck you then guy!

Uh you compared Medicare to robbery by gunpoint. That’s idiotic, nothing else to say.
