It really depends on the individual dealer. When I was shopping in 2016, there were two local dealers that had a new FoST in stock, same exact package and color. One dealer had the thing set up inside the showroom with a fucking velvet rope around it and refused to talk any kind of deal on it. The other just threw me

While I know this isn’t even remotely unique to Ford, I’ll never forget cross-shopping a Focus RS in late 2018. Dealerships had cars which had been on the lot for six months that still had markup on them. One actually had a 2017 on the lot, in August of 2018, with a $5000 markup. I think I’d probably go for a Bullitt over a GT350, I’m a sucker for that retro vibe and I rarely make it to a track.

Not new but here is how I’d spend 50k.

Japanese styling.  German reliability.  They got it backwards.

Wouldn’t the cheaper way be to buy 1-2 years old and keep it the same length of time? Depreciation is a bear those first few years but most people don’t even use up 20% of the reliable life.

If nothing else, it has forced auto companies to put their chips down in terms of where they really stand on fuel economy issues. I expect customers who care about such things, an increasingly large portion of the population, will take notice.

We get it, you drive a Tesla... and lets not act like $8.5k is chump change (before tax credits) when you are playing in the $30k price area.
