It proves nothing of the sort. The exact starting point of Pixar’s quality decline is debatable, but Lasseter didn’t leave until 2018, at which point Pixar had already served up duds like Cars 2, Brave, The Good Dinosaur, and Monsters University, and work had already begun on Lightyear.

They still make great stuff from time to time. Coco, Inside Out, and Turning Red are all at the same level of quality as classic Pixar. But the days when they were reliably churning out a new classic every year are over, and most of their movies inspire shrugs more than anything else.

You know, I never hear anyone complain about “pandering” in fiction when the character is straight. Or white. Or a dude. But the moment a character breaks out of that mold, then folks start scrutinizing them like mad. It would be nice if minorities could just have characters representing them without the internet…

This headline format needs to be the standard across the industry. It’s not “because of the writers’ strike” it’s “because studios won’t pay their writers.”

This wasn’t a technical blunder. This was an idea which was implemented exactly as intended. It’s just that the idea was incredibly stupid.

Every time a new Godzilla movie comes out (which, between the Godzilla/Kong American films and the ongoing original Japanese franchise, happens about every 2 or 3 years) there’s a bunch of hot takes and thinkpieces reminding everyone how ugly…

Con Air has no business being on this list. It’s pretty much a cult action movie classic at this point.
