I speak from experience. My uncle mentioned every one of these things at this past Thanksgiving gathering.

Toyota is like your uncle who you loved to have babysit you and your siblings as a kid because he would bust out some new toy he bought (MR2, AE86, A70, Celica GT-Four) and entertain for hours, complete with watching those action movies that your parents thought were too violent for young kids if you promised to keep

Looks fast. Looks like it’d be even faster after you pick up ten gold coins.

Vanity plates are a great way to put something fun on your car and spend, at minimum, eleven months regretting what you requested at the DMV.

You definitely want to see whether the check-engine codes were recently cleared, which is easy enough with any cheap OBD-II reader. There may be no active codes, but the car won’t show emissions faults until after the readiness codes are set (which take anywhere from half an hour to ten hours of driving to set,

Five tire types will be used throughout the year from C1 (hardest) through C5 (softest). Of these 5, Three adjacent compounds will be available at each race, named the “hard,” “medium,” or “soft” tire for that event.

An angry beard trimmer sounds painful. Remind me to see if mine needs to be fed.

This is why you don’t talk about any new car, especially exciting ones, until you’re within a year of its planned release. Car development cycles are long, and although I’m pretty sure the Supra is on a standard six-year dev track (it was announced in-development in what, 2013?), it feels like an eternity. See also:

Being realistic, we’re probably waiting until at least the end of 2022 for Mazda to see some returns on the joint US plant with Toyota before they’ll even seriously entertain the idea of a production rotary again. The CX-5 is half of the company’s sales volume and until that plant’s churning them out en masse, they’re

That may be the first time I’ve heard anyone use that adjective to describe the ND. But looks are subjective.

Weird that a fun lineup meant having just an okay Miata (NC), while having a staid lineup means having the best Miata ever (ND).

I was honestly shocked that they would move the rear end downmarket when it was first announced, but seeing that AWD is now an option that makes a lot more sense from a cost and weight perspective. Disappointing for the enthusiasts, but the Miata’s not only still there for us, it’s the best car it’s ever been.

That’s a quality Kinja zinger. Bravo.

I want to smile when I look at it. I want to feel happy when I sit in it. I want to be exhilarated when I hammer on it. I want to feel accomplished when I nail a perfect corner. I want to feel fear when I push it too hard. I want to look forward to the next time I get to do it all again.

Okay, I had my reservations at the unveil, but that hatchback has grown on me. I think a lip on the “spoiler”/wind diffuser would help define the rear end just a little bit more but it’s a smooth, elegant evolution of the current hatchback’s design, which was already one of the best-looking on the market.

Can’t...unsee...
