BMW is the homeopathic automaker. If they weren’t already the most diluted brand in the industry, this brings them down to oscillococcinum levels.

So um, am I alone in thinking once you cook the brakes it’s probably a good idea to exit to pit rather than do another few laps and risk sending it into the gravel traps...?

Packaging likely played into it since the rotary is so small and lightweight. Though I do wonder if they leaned on the development of the SkyActiv-R prototype to figure out how to get a rotary to burn significantly cleaner than the 13B and Renesis engines of old...

While they’re at this whole shoebox-sized rotary engine as a range extender thing, they should see about selling it as a standalone go-kart motor.

That was my thought too, but it seems unlikely that they can repackage the larger motor to fit cleanly in the same engine bay. Plus, R&T’s documents apparently show the engine size as still 2.0L.

Surprised there’s no mention of the proposed steel and aluminum tariffs that have been making financial news rounds this morning. Unless a full article on its impact to the auto industry is coming later today or tomorrow?

Dunkin Donuts is the only thing that gets me through New England winters.

Maybe it’s time to invest in some good riding pants and boots, too, my dude.

Here’s a thought experiment. If manuals confuse car thieves, electric cars confuse car thieves, and proximity keys confuse car thieves, would a car combining all three of these have a comprehensive insurance premium rivaling the cost of a pack of Skittles?

Sega’s arcade division wasn’t too on the ball either. Just a couple months back they publicly posted an update file for Daytona Championship USA arcade cabinets that contained the entire game. Since the arcade machines are just Windows PCs, some crafty developers got to work...and you can guess where that ended up.

Not with those wheels, or that suspension. Blegh. CP

Seconded. Having an odd number of cylinders adds so much to the unseen quirk factor too!

but I still have a soul

It hurts me so much to give it the CP, but it’s just too high a price to buy into when factoring the difficulty of sourcing parts since this is going to be driven, not parked and showed a garage-museum piece.

I can’t imagine that was good for the starter though...

I saw those TaoTao scooters pop up on Newegg Marketplace regularly all through last year in all sorts of styles; even one that looked like a sport bike. Always thought about picking one up for shits and giggles, and this makes me want one for local shenanigans now. Thanks for the tip!

It’s really refreshing to see an honest-to-goodness wagon again. The rear end is a perfect fusion of styling cues from Volvos past and present.

My grandfather handed his 1997 ES300 down to my sister before his passing in 2005. Incredibly comfortable, surprisingly quick, and smooth-riding with good handling. Toyota of the 90s knew how to make it work.

Yeesh, I do NOT miss the Ford-majority-ownership era of Mazda. That interior is way more drab than I remember.
