Nobody likes to lose, but simply calling someone a poor loser is a cheap way to try and avoid any argument. It actually allowes for the governing body to continue to stick their head in the sand when it comes to the ever-increasing issue of cheating.

Couple of additions here:

It’s a bit more nuanced than that, regardless of how it looks. There have been rumors about Niemann’s play for years. Several top ranked players have acknowledged this, and though they are not willing to take a definitive stand, it seems like quite a few of them are leaning towards Carlsen on this one.

Niemann would never win a defamation suit based on all this. For starters, the burden of proof would be on him.

You seem to have accidentally included the word ‘not’ in that reply.

Against which men though? She’s already competed in the second tier of F3 two years ago, and she really didn’t look like a further promotion would do her image any good.

I mean, the sprint would get better viewing numbers than qualy, so it’d have to be run on Saturday when more people have the opportunity to watch it live. I would actually prefer qualy to be on Saturday morning in this case, and keep FP1/FP2 on Friday (though I understand F1's argument that they’d like to spice up the

It depends. It’s clear that this was one of Magnus’ worst played games in years, and Niemann played very well. But we also know from other players that Carlsen was uncomfortable with Niemann’s late addition to the tournament, and by his own admission had considered pulling out. His poor play could have reasonably been

What a fucking checkmate move by Magnus.

Thanks so much for this. I’m only a novice player myself, but I know enough to realize that when Magnus accuses someone of cheating, we’d better take it seriously and don’t just wave him off as a sore loser (as so many here seem to have done).

I mean, either:

You’re missing the point here. He can’t provide evidence of cheating, because that’s not how it works. He can’t go into the bathroom with his opponent, he can’t touch him or otherwise frisk him.

Indeed, it’s much better to call someone who has dealt with analyzing opponents for a living for nearly 20 years a ‘giant gaping grotesquerie of a person’ based on one fairly innocuous comment.

That would be the logical move. You know, if he didn’t actually cheat.

It’s happened many, many times before.

Congrats on your amazing troll.

The current sprint system has a major flaw in it: the result of the sprint sets the grid for Sunday. As long as that is the case, drivers won’t be taking any risks in these sprints, and the entertainment value will remain low.

While this hardly excludes Herzfeld from being the guy she’s refering to, she did do another movie with him a few years later.

They couldn’t have got him to 40 with free practice runs.

Neither. Rich Energy took Haas for a ride.
