I think he’s only known as that among 5 year olds.

His race wasn’t over; a safetycar could’ve brought him back into the mix as many cars were already lapped at that point. The team clearly thought there wasn’t an issue, they checked the car, sent him back out, found the issue and told him to park it. No mystery here.

I also chuckled at the fact that these people apparently think that Christian Horner and Franz Tost, the two longest-serving team principals, would jeopardize their entire careers to win a race they didn’t need to.

Sargeant is a Williams junior, therefore his options are limited. It’s entirely possible that AlphaTauri would try to get him if he was available. And Sargeant is still very much in the mix for that second Williams seat.

I hate the ‘rules are rules’ argument which I’ve heard a lot over the past week. Rules are important, but rules can also be changed if it’s found they aren’t working. The FIA routinely changes their own rules and regulations when the original rule doesn’t quite work for them (they just did with the TD regarding floor

You’re comparing completely different eras of junior series now...

Audi effectively confirmed last month that Porsche will not build any engine in Germany because of a lack of dynos and other facilities. The only option they’d have is to re-brand Audi’s PU’s.

As I mentioned earlier, it doesn’t look like Porsche has any intention of actually starting up a power unit program. The reason they want to get into bed with Red Bull is for branding purposes, since Red Bull now has its own powertrain division and those 2026 power units could be branded as Porsche. So it’s not likely

As a Dutchie, this is 100% correct. I won’t go to the Dutch, Belgian, Austrian, Hungarian or Spanish GP anymore because of them. The problem is that the majority aren’t motorsports fans at all, they’re Verstappen fans.

Porsche has never intended to build their own engines. They don’t have the facilities and equipment available in Germany. The Red Bull negotiations are based on a partial takeover while branding the RBPT power units as Porsche.

ahem *Monaco 2007* ahem

Andretti was 31 when he was replaced at McLaren, and a fluke podium doesn’t change the fact that he was underperforming. They also replaced him with Mika Hakkinen, who won two world titles for them later that decade.

They signed him right after the Silverstone race, and it wasn’t really relevant to Ricciardo’s situation. We know now that McLaren’s contract with Piastri didn’t guarantee him Ricciardo’s seat for 2023, as they weren’t sure whether or not they could come to an agreement to buy out Daniel’s contract. Ricciardo had long

No he didn’t.

I mean, Gasly was clearly their third choice, so they weren’t really intending to go all-out French.

Which shows that loyalty/character isn’t really an issue with Piastri. He signed a two year deal with McLaren with no guarantee that he’d be racing next season, yet believing that they’d do everything in their power to make that happen.

Most of the women in W Series don’t have a lot of experience in cars as fast as FIA F3, so that might be a factor. Other than that, running a car that’s comparable to FIA F3 would highlight the speed difference between the FIA F3 and the W Series drivers, which might not be a good thing for the series.

I think McLaren is fine in that regard. Alpine comes off much, much worse. They look like absolute idiots here. Extending Ocon long-term when they didn’t have to, causing them to piss off Alonso by only being able to offer him one year, losing Piastri to a team they allowed him to be a reserve driver for. And now

Weird comparison to make.

I understand that argument, but in making it you’re kind of proving my point: both those guys made it, didn’t they?
