THIS. Trulli is, for me at least, the pick for most underrated since 2000. He got a bad rep by seemingly always holding up a group of cars on Sundays, and dropping back through the field. But most of that came from his insane speed on Saturday, routinely qualifying in places his car had no business being. Sure, he had

Great call. Particularly good in qualifying.

He never ‘lost’ a title due to team orders. He just wasn’t as consistently good as Michael.

No. He’s properly rated as a really, really good driver who was at no point one of the two best drivers in F1.

It’s not debatable. You were right the first time. It’s easy to say Hill should’ve waited as Schumacher’s race was done, but that’s not something Damon knew at the time. For all he knew, Michael got lucky and that was his only shot at an overtake. And Schumacher gave Hill the corner before turning into him. 100%

I think Stroll would’ve been a good candidate for being underrated if he wasn’t such a dreadful qualifier. His one lap pace really hurts him.

It’s a promotional event. No need to panic.

He live-streamed from his home in Woking the week after the Abu Dhabi GP.

Well, since the UK is in lockdown and travel is severly restricted, it’s a bit weird that Lando decided to go the UAE.

Do it. You won’t regret it.

He spent two full seasons in both F3 and F2. Not exactly expediting someone to F1, especially when considering that the top talents in F1 are usually one-and-done as they climb the ladder.

Championships are a bit overrated when it comes to judging someone’s F1 potential. Peak performance, age and experience are much better indicators.

Not only was he not the best of the field, he wasn’t even a top three prospect when it comes to performance vs experience. He won his title based on consistency and incredible race starts, not speed.

She did. She drove for an elite team in regional F3 (second tier of F3 racing). She ended up 7th out of 9 regulars. Her three teammates, none of whom are considered F1 calibre prospects, ended the season 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

She did do a season of F3. The second tier of F3, but still. It didn’t go well. At all.

True, but in a Red Bull you have much fewer people to fight than in the midfield, so at the front-end of the grid raw pace becomes much more important.

Based on what? Him outqualifying Stroll for the last two years? Checo couldn’t even outpace Ocon two years ago. He’s a tremendous racer, but he lacks the speed to even be close to Verstappen.

That, or the alternative theory, which needs much less explanation. Which is that Max is just really, really good.

Well it goes both ways: Albon would’ve never had an F1 career if it wasn’t for Red Bull giving him a chance. They owe Albon nothing. Moving Tsunoda to reserve and letting a clearly superior prospect linger in F2 for another year just delays the inevitable, and that truly doesn’t help anyone.

This’ll turn in your favor then. He’s going to get absolutely smoked by Verstappen next year.
