Woof, hang in there during the doldrums. It’s a bummer of a slog, but I’m sure you’ll find a rhythm that works for you until we’re out of this thing.

I already worked at home and had a bunch of homey hobbies (games, gunpla building) so it’s not the hugest change BUT my typical break from my everyday stuff was heading out to see a movie, so it’s a bit of a bummer to have lost that for the time being. Plus now my spouse is WFH (they are a school teacher) and we’re

I don’t think I played a game between December and last week (Ori), which was definitely an interesting change. Instead, I fell deep into a Gunpla building hole. I had always had aspirations to set up a proper hobby space but had punted on it for... somewhere between 10 and 20 years since it seemed like my only

Yeah I have... significant concerns about the TOS and their compunction about, say, not selling your fitness data to, I dunno, the health care industry?

Or you can go all in and make that your life. Last time I had a major cold I just binged Brutalmoose’s run downs of his fave DCOMs and my life is better for it since I never had the Disney channel when I was little and missed all that shit.

$75 investment buuuuut they pretty notoriously decided to sell it because touring with it got too expensive so, I dunno, I’m torn between schadenfreude and hoping that it was still a reasonable return for them.

You claim that my 3 year old may be too young but I’m pretty sure that kid’s love language is M&Ms... Pretty sure they would push me off a cliff if there were a modest bowl of M&Ms in it for them.

The cannery level... I get teary just thinking about it. Plus the bathtub level. Pretty incredible trick to take an objectively horrific vignette in principle and make it downright joyous.

Wow, what a story, thank you for sharing. I definitely have a few games etched into my memory because I played them right when I dealt with trauma. Really vivid memories of playing about half of Shadow of the Colossus in one sitting through tears because I got a call about my mom regressing into alcoholism again right

Ok, how about X years from now when they shut down the updates? The game is just a diminished experience in perpetuity?

Wow, uh, I can’t believe Nintendo allowed this... This sure seems like the vector by which Switch homebrew will be blown wide open.

I am super glad they’re doing this... Also their announcement could maybe have used some copy editing ‘cause... Persona 5 isn’t some relic of a bygone era, it was released both in this console and social generation. Weird deflection, but good on them!

Wait.... how does a DNA test... prove or imply that you’re a fan of... anything? If we were to correlate that sort of thing I’d assume he’d be off the charts for Nickelback or clapping on the 1s and the 3s or something.

I have not played a single minute of the CSD series, but I have watched my spouse play literally hundreds of hours of the games and I just can’t say enough good stuff about them.

For my money, Dan Deacon is just about the most interesting and listenable contemporary composer (with Colin Stetson) in the game right now (which sort of flits in and out of influencing his poppier releases). I can’t freaking wait to give it a listen.

Kind of amazed that there are no allusions to Russian Doll in the article or the comments. Gosh I liked that show a lot.

Naw, I figured that if we didn’t see it on TV that night while we were still in Japan, it was unlikely that we would ever find it. But you never know!

Now playing

Fun fact, the Yodobashi Camera song (which is just The Battle Hymn of the Republic with different lyrics) went through a phase in the 80s where it was a fuckin’ banger.

So, I was in Tokyo during the summer that Pokemon GO launched. Since it launched in the US a few weeks before it launched in Japan, I had downloaded the US app store client and just stared at the empty map and obsessively refreshed it for those few weeks.

As someone who greatly enjoyed your review of the TV edition today, I am delighted by this.
