I mean, if YouTube personality Patrick Klepek can learn to love anime, I think anyone can.

Yeesh. Yeah, all my complaints come from the perspective of cishet white dude. When I consider my good friends at the time who (surprise surprise) came out once they had moved away, or were a member of any sort of marginalized group by Springs standards, I get sad and frustrated with what they surely had to deal with.
Fair enough, I don’t disagree about Denver, it’s pretty steadily becoming more and more of a shitshow. I’m hidden over here in Golden where things aren’t quite the same, but it still feels manageably small.
For what it’s worth, I upped for the beta maybe 2 weeks ago, and while there’s always a risk, it improved my battery situation immensely. Not sure what the heck was going on with the late 10.x.x versions, but my battery life absolutely tanked for the last couple months on a phone that wasn’t even a year old yet. Since…
Ooo, that’s maybe the best, most concise summary of the Springs that I’ve ever seen.
I can’t speak for OP, but as someone who also grew up there, all the other comments cover a lot of it, but it’s especially unpleasant if you’re, say, an under-21, non-religious, non-hyperconservative kid. There aren’t too many engaging social spaces for that type of person, and the city is kind of a cultural black…
My grandpa’s house was about 10 minutes away from what used to be a 7-11 on Galley in which I have fond memories of a lady coming in from the parking lot to declare to the store clerk that “some motherfuckers were trying to be motherfuckers” out front. Evidently they were trying to sell counterfeit tools in the…
Ha, posted before I scrolled down to the other comments. Glad to see my fellow Springs survivors feel as warmly for the city as I do.
Born and raised there. Pretty much personifies my feelings about the city.
Not crazy about microtransactions, and I’m reticent to defend almost any company, but I’d wager that this is much more from Activision pressure than Bungie themselves. After the tire fire that has been the Destiny development process, it’s not especially surprising that Bungie acquiesced.
This is especially interesting if you consider Roger Ebert’s original “games can’t be art” argument that they are devoid of authorial intent. Now, granted, he walked that back (Thanks to Jenn Frank no less!), but I think this reflects one way of expressing authorial intent in the medium.
How does one get ahold of the physical version? Are they selling it or is that for press? Looking forward to grabbing it either way!
Ah, that’s perfect! I love Tokyo dearly (this is the first time I haven’t gone there for the summer in about 5 years because my wife and I had a baby this year), so I’m sure you’ll love it. I love Yakuza because it makes me miss Japan a little less! Same with Persona, I could navigate around Persona 5 instantly…
This is a proper latest game in the series.
I was watching a Skyward Sword speedrun this weekend and reflecting on how well Zelda games age, relatively speaking, and I came to the conclusion that BOTW will likely age really, really well because of the accessibility and physical/mechanical intuitiveness. I don’t remember explicitly disliking Skyward Sword at the…
Jaysus, sounds like my family (Well, my mother’s side).
Not sure I’d relegate them to novelty games. There’s definitely a block of (relentlessly boring) shogi and go instruction on Japanese PBS every afternoon, and just last week I was watching a video in Osaka that showed a pretty big spot where a bunch of folks were playing. Old fashioned maybe, but definitely still a…
Currently 8 months in to our first. He bumped his head on the ground while playing right after we introduced him to solid food (and after a particularly huge breakfast). He immediately puked... a whole lot of puke. Like, he started puking while we were taking his onesie off, and the inverted onesie that wasn’t past…
So it has aged about as well as Doug TenNapel in general.
