@Cygnus_Mal: Very cool. My wife and I went for our honeymoon and then again right before our first anniversary and we reallyreallyreally want to move there. We're not big drinkers usually, but I could see living in Japan being pretty hard on the liver.
@DocSeuss: This also calls to mind a quote from David Foster Wallace that I always really really liked but is also kind of maybe a problem with the generation I grew up in:
@DocSeuss: Ahhh, I getcha. I think it may be like the not readily definable good things trump the conventional, easily describable ways that the games are good, so it feels a little redundant to describe the good things. It's like why I like my wife so much, we get along well, have similar tastes, and she's incredibly…
@Clutchman83: I'm totally cool with, like, 24-30 fps because that gives things a filmic feel, but 60 fps, even in games like MW2, just feels weird and too smooth to me. That's wildly subjective though, so I understand the opposing preference.
@Quazifuji: Could very well be. How bout this one: it's like saying Nabokov should've written Lolita in Russian because it was his native tongue? Overly technical and misses the point completely.
@SonOfAtom: He had an incredible economy with words. After having read a lot of David Foster Wallace (who I absolutely adore but who is an acquired taste), it is easy to fall in to a rut where complicated wordiness = goodness. Vonnegut was able to say beautiful, meaningful things simply without any self-aware…
They did it for free for Anachronox, and it was pretty popular. I thoroughly doubt it's monetizable though unless it's mostly new material, and even then it's an extremely hard sell.
@DocSeuss: I think it's maybe because, like many of the recent indie games these days, Ico and SotC are deeply subjectively experiential. The easiest description I can come up with is that both games have incredible emotional resonance, or that they are empathy engines but the same can be said for pretty much all…
Saying SotC needs to be 60 fps is like saying Vonnegut needed to use bigger words.
@LuckyChuck: ... Along with, like, 6 more Michel Gondry videos.
@crazypills77: Wow, I could write essays about the elegance of that retort.
@Ding-Dang: My wife used our zester on her feet just prior to our wedding.
My wife and I had a great time digging into it last night...
You win this round Canada...
@brijazz: The pointing fail at 0:02 is freaking brilliant.
HDR looks like a unicorn puked inside your camera 98% of the time.
@Hello Mister Walrus: Correction, a $17 Maratac nylon strap. It's the fabric of the future!!!
@Tivilon: So I haven't finished up Bioshock 2, do I need to finish the story to get everything out of the dlc?
