there is a part of the song where she is speaking patois and it’s pretty obvious what she is saying (this is most of the song), and there is a part near the end when she seems to have gone past patois to something else. I think (I hope) it’s the second part these writers are reacting to. If not it’s super stupid.
I don’t think it’s inherently racist to wonder if those were real words. My husband is from the virgin islands and his mother is from antigua. A few months ago at a party all his cousins were like, “I don’t know wtf she’s saying.”
