I owned one through part of College. It was a 500 dollar car when I needed cheap transportation. I bought it in November with a leaking heater core(which is why it was so cheap) and fixed it in the apartment parking lot over the course of a week. I actually had the five speed with the 2.0 and manual everything. I

That the gubmit raises the freeway speeds so that little 3 speed no overdrive cars with the Iron Duke and Lima will blow up early, forcing us all to buy new cars. That said thank God the speed limit isn’t 55 anymore.

Backstory I had a Pontiac Ventura in High School that I lived a lot and put a lot of work and too much money into. And because my parents had their own vehicles j always had to park on the road...probably because of a slow oil drip too but that’s beside the point. So stupid 17 year old me would climb out my own

Here is the fiance and the Montero haha a little rusty but its still running strong. Its got the headlight washers, blue interior, and all the off-road goods like measurement of angles for ascent and descent, compass etc. Its a fun little truck

Speaking of small v6 bubble cars, here is the lovely Mitsubishi FTO

Ya another Mitsu fan. I need to get my hands on an eclipse one of these days preferrably 2nd gen, but I currently have a an 05 Ralliart, and my fiance has an 87 white 2 door Mitsu Montero with the 3.0. really fun cars and not too much trouble either.

I recently did a lot of work to the front end suspension of my daily driver and so I had to fix it quickm. I ended up forgetting a dust boot for my inner tie rod, and on one strut I had to buy new bearings for the top of the strut when the one was destroyed. Not fun and definitely not the quick fix I thought it would

I liked the Mitsubishi collaboration days.... :( The 420a is pretty good and the Mitsubishi 5 speed is solid. Plus the Mitsu Montero and Mighty Max clones :D

Also it was way bigger on the inside than the outside suggested.

I actually can confirm this. I had 97 Plymouth Breeze with the 420A and the five speed manual. Basic and manual everything even locks. But I took it to 220,000 miles with very few problems along the way. Gutless, but I usually got 36-38 mpg highway even driving 80+ mph on I-15

I’m thinking part runners too. The Auto Zone and Napa here have a lot of Versas and Chevy Sonics etc. A small electric hatchback is pretty useful when they don’t need the small trucks they use too. (ie old ass Ford Rangers)

86% of the time it works everytime...

Here in Idaho grand prix’s are everywhere. The latlst gen was sold only with the 3.8 along with many Buicks of the same vintage. I even saw a Chevy Berretta in good shape the other day. Idaho is a weird place though haha

I don’t know the 3.8 is pretty solid, I’ve even seen Buick century’s and Malibus and some old Luminas (car) with the 3.1 with well over 200,000 miles. Besides the dexcool and intake manifold things they are solid if uninspiring. The transmissions are shit though.

In my own anecdotal experience you are correct. I drove my parents bought for cheap cavalier 2.4 twin cam and i went to 208,000 miles with no problems till blmy brother rolled it. I’ve heard the 2.2 ecotec in the cobalts and such is pretty stout too.

I did mine on a 97 Sunfire coupe. But it was tiny, automatic and at least the 2.4 was peppy but man it was a shitty car. My twin brother rolled it a couple months later.

I agree the wider body really adds a lot for the C6. Same for the GS.

You forgot they existed? The GM smaller truck success is what convinced Ford to bring the Ranger back. Ford was the one playing it safe and now playing catch up.

I wanted to add the new Express while it looks the same on the outside, has received some recent updates. No more 4 speed autos hooray, and it has the updated 4.3 v6 that actually has close to 300 lb/ft and now. And interestingly I just found out it can be ordered with the 2.8 diesel from the Colorado and an 8 speed

My friend had two in highschool. Similar years I think the manual was an 87 and the auto was an 88 both 1.8 liter engines and both red. He bought them both cheap, the auto was best to hell but ran well and the manual had a blown engine. So of course we took the engine and whatever else was good off the auto and then
