Agreed, 5 pounds of boost is pretty mild. On most stock engines at 5psi an inter-cooler is not even necessary, with the air fuel gauge and intercooler I have a feeling they went pretty conservative on this set up with durability in mind.

It seems easier in looser transmissions. Was as smooth as butter in a Dodge Dakota with 200k on the clock, a little more finicky on my fiesta that was under warranty. I have a Tremec TKO 500 and its a little harder to do this one compared to the old Chrysler 833 it replaced and that thing didn’t shift any easier…
The trick is gentle pressure on the shifter and when the revs match it will slide in ever so smooth. Rev matching is how you had to downshift before syncronizers anyway, so its not really hard on the transmission or the clutch... when done properly.
The seller missed a step. Step 1 (buy good restoration candidate) Step 2... Step 3 (sell at restored price)
I’m with you there, even in the 200 treadwear tire category development in the past few years has been swift, and those tires are as soft as you can run in street categories, let alone the Pilot tires that they put on the Corvettes that aren’t legal in many classes.
False, because the grip of the tires is also a factor. Though more weight adds to the amount of grip the tires have, the extra inertia added by the weight is greater than the additional grip. Otherwise weight distribution would have no effect on handling. Not only is weight a factor, but where it is distributed…
Where I am struggling is that he seems to make the assumption that all the tires are doing an equal share of the work at 1.336 Gs. Since cars deal with weight transfer any time you accelerate, decelerate or turn some of the tires are doing more work that others. That means in my eyes that the tires on average are…
The moment I saw this I thought of the old theories about how fast a dragster would be able to do the quarter mile and they mistakenly assumed that tires could deliver no more than 1 G of acceleration. Honestly I feel as though tires more than engine development, downforce or even chassis technology are the biggest…
It is rather impressive that they had crumple zones, however the safety feature you are missing is the Lucas ignition, which prevents you from driving the car. If you can learn anything from abstinence only sex education, it’s that the safest way to do something is not to do it.
The more I think about this the worse it gets. They took all of the upsides of owning a Mini and got rid of them. I might even go so far as to say that the Sidekick loses its charm as a fun little off roader. They seriously made a car that is worse than the sum of its parts by quite a margin.
So the drivers who put Taxi companies out of business because Uber skirted around labor laws to underpay its contractors now want to receive the same benefits as the people they undercut.
I think I saw it at a cars and Coffee in Poland.
My guess is both. Probably hangs out with an EVO and a Fiat, but gets in a huff because it never tells them his plans.
I wouldn’t mind seeing what happens before the Van flips them off. Something tells me the person on the motorcycle wasn’t driving down the road minding their own business and then some van flips them off. Otherwise it just looks like two jerkbags ruining eachother’s days.
Honestly for what this is it seems like a good price. 51,888 seems to be on the bottom end of what these sell for, Im seeing some with 1/4 the miles for 70k. No way I would own one, but if you are in to flashy spending and punishing your spine, why not? You can use it to drive to a chiropractor.
I remember reading a review of the Caliber SRT4 on allpar, a Chrysler enthusiast site. Even they struggled to put a good spin on it, basically said it was in the formula of the SRT4 based on the Neon, but worse. That was the period when a bunch of new tech came into chrysler, the 4.7, 3.7 and World engines and all…
I Auto Crossed its cousin (2012 Fiesta) and these cars handle way better than you anticipate once you put decent tires on them. I have BF Goodrich Rivals, a rear sway bar and uprated struts and springs and the car was very competitive in STF. On handling courses if I could carry my momentum I was usually in the mix…
When I owned a Fiesta I remember there being a lot of similarities. You could interchange some suspension components between the cars, they had similar weight but different drivetrains. So I guess the short story is they are very similar, but not totally the same, and I was thinking similar things about why not get…
In the neighborhood of $1400 for a turbo 5 speed I will accept some uncertainty. Thats “Why the heck not?” money on a car that is interesting and could be fun to drive.
I would imagine you also buy it to meet your future ex wife before the car bleeds you wallet dry and she files for divorce. At that point you will have to resist the temptation to yell “burn baby burn” as it catches fire and you can let a tear escape as you realize it cant hurt you anymore.
