To some extent, this is reflecting Cummin’s book being pop fiction rather than literary fiction, and it’s highly likely that pop fiction is following the YA trend of some exec in a publishing…
She is not personally stopping writers of color. But she has gotten significantly more attention and money for her book than any of the ones featured in that picture.

You can get M&M’s with your face on it and personalized messages on their web site. You can pick the colors too. I did it for my wife once with a picture of the dog for Mother’s Day. IIRC, it cost about $40 and we got about 2 lb of candy.

We eat it almost every week in late spring/early summer when it is fresh, then we rarely eat it once the season ends, which is fine because we have had it 10 times by then.
