And people wonder if Margaret Atwood’s dystopian Handmaid’s Tale could ever come to fruition. It starts this way: when Americans are asleep at the wheel and do nothing as their government slowly chokes the life out of them.

Oh no, just watch. When this thing starts to hemorrhage money, the GOP will say “look, we have to cut spending. Where’s that social security and medicare spending bill we were working on...”
Single. Payer.
Reagan admired their steely, dead-eyed contempt for gay people who were dying of that virus whose name he didn’t even utter for the first five years it was killing us.
Update: Yep, they’re motherfuckers all right.
I don’t think there are enough Democrats running in 2018 to retake the Senate so the only way they could would be if a shitton of Republican Senators lose their election. It looks very grim, I know.
Of COURSE they’re going after Social Security and Medicare.
Very proud to call Booker my Senator. :)
ALL OF THEM voted for this bill, not just two shitheads in charge.
Yes, because “the beer summit” (whatever the fuck that is) must have been worse than the bullshit WAR Bush started in Iraq.
Simple question: was that your initial post? No, it wasn’t. And reconciliation took place MONTHS after public hearings and debates. And the Senate should not EVER need 60 votes to pass anything. That’s nowhere in the Constitution.
I love how you’re still backpedaling by using this ridiculous reconciliation argument when you conveniently left that out of your initial, provocative, horseshit post.
It’s worse than it was just “rammed through.” The lawmakers themselves couldn’t possibly have read the fucking thing by the time it was done and before the vote.
Reconciliation was appropriate after MONTHS of public debates and hearings. Comparing how the ACA was passed and how this monstrous spending bill passed is a willfully ignorant argument. You just sound stupid. In fact, reading your argument makes others stupid. Just. Stop.
He’s really gone off the rails with this one. And clinging on, bitterly too, I might add.
Anyone who uses the word “pork” to describe a spending bill is advertising their political ignorance to the world about how bills are created in this country.
Ah, more racist humor. Lovely.
Bullshit. Just. fucking. bullshit. The ACA was not voted on until after MONTHS of debates and hearings.
The Republicans in Congress really are pieces of shit. They bitched and pissed and moaned when the Democrats were in power from ‘09 through ‘10 and pushed through the Affordable Care Act after MONTHS of public hearings and debates.
“Lure?” You don’t lure a Tom Arnold. You “shed” yourself of Tom Arnold.
