My friend bought a 308 6-7 years ago with a similar story for $22k. We yanked out the boat anchor engine that was in there and swapped in a Honda H23. It’s now 300lbs lighter and Honda reliable. He probably puts 10k miles a year on it with out a worry.

Could you use anadapter like those little FM 12v adapter things that add bluetooth to old cars? The adapter would have a very low power 3g network that only works in the car. Then it would translate and transmit it at higher power on the 5g network. In theory this works in my head.....
