As it's a parody of some of the great documentaries from film and tv history in style, tone, substance, you'll miss a lot of the jokes. Like most all of them.

His occasional appearances on the Jack Benny Show and Fred Allen's shows were always hilarious (you can probably find them over at archive.org). He played up the boy genius persona and presumed pomposity wonderfully, and you could really tell he loved doing the comedy and was great at it - too bad he didn't make any

You shut your mouth!! Phil Harris was awesome, and his radio show with his wife Alice Faye was (IMO) the prototype for the modern family sitcom. Hilarious, well written, great cast and always a good song or two thrown in for good measure. It had a modern sensibility and holds up so much better than most other family

This shit has been going on for decades. And just because a few people became stars and don't have to do shitty stereotype roles anymore doesn't mean the vast majority of actors of color aren't constantly squeezed into a small "thug" or "drug dealer" box and not given opportunities to, I don't know, be "office guy #2"
