Tears are flowing in this household. Gutted, simply gutted by this news despite it not being terribly surprising. I'm currently reading Pratchett's Strata for the first time (an earlier more sci-fi oriented book - good, but not as "funny" as Discworld) - it even mentions in passing a planet on the backs of 4

On top of everything else it is one of the most beautifully designed and animated shows I've ever seen. Gorgeous, entertaining, funny, thought provoking - truly unique.

I really liked it too - I think both seasons are on Hulu currently if you want to see more of it.

And let's not forget, they've been around since 19freaking69. They ain't spring chickens!

The tv show was called Spectacle

I saw Jimmy Cliff a couple of years ago - fantastic show. The guy KILLED it in a bright tiger print jumpsuit!

Toots Hibbert did a fantastic album in the 90s called Toots In Memphis, covering a slew of mostly Stax classics with a great style mixture of old school soul and reggae.

Being a musician, I have no qualms in saying some of Chuck Berry's songs (which I absolutely adore) are more similar than Cole Porter's, The Beatles', or Beethoven's. That said, they are fucking genius as well. Certainly Maybellene does not sound like Johnny B Goode, nor does Roll Over Beethoven sound anything like

"or someone who recorded “Johnny B. Goode” and contributed little else"
Even if that was the only thing Chuck Berry ever did, it would still be more than 99% of every rock and roll musician.

Say wha? He is still putting out interesting albums almost every year with a whole host of amazing guests (and on his own). They may not all be great, but they're always worth a listen.

Working In A Coal Mine was pretty big as well, at least video wise. I remember that on heavy rotation.

Hm. Always thought of him as Australian since I first saw him in a bunch of Aussie films.

I saw that movie in the theaters, and I wouldn't say Yahoo Serious was "denied a career" in Hollywood. It was a terrible, terrible film and he was about as funny as Leonid Brezhnev. Plus his name was stupid. Paul Hogan (Crocodile Dundee) on the other hand became a big star here for a little while (he was already a

I thought it was a B. He was gregarious and game, and while the sketches weren't overly incisive but I did laugh consistently through most of it. I am still amazed at how well Australian actors in general can switch accents at the drop of a hat. Hemsworth, Jackman, Sam Neill, Hugo Weaving, etc…

Have you seen Empire? It's hilariously over the top, utterly ridiculous and totally unbelievable. I thought it was a pretty decent parody. Drip. Drop. Dripdrippitydrop!

What's to say? It's great fucking movie.

Phoenix is Hell to Tucson's Limbo.

I like Tucson, at least certain parts of it. There is an arty undercurrent to the place, and a few cool places to hang. The hiking just out side of town is pretty awesome as well. My mom lived there for a number of years and it wasn't a bad place to visit for the holidays. Let me tell you, December in Tucson is WAY

It was an Obie award winning play first - both the play and screenplay were written by Doug Wright. It was directed by Philip Kaufman, who also directed other really good films like Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Right Stuff, and The Unbearable Lightness of Being.

Wait, this isn't a full series run? Too bad, easily one of the most entertaining shows of the year. Of course, the reason it's mostly male and almost entirely white is it's the 1940s and almost all the people doing what the SSR do were male and white. Maybe having more secretarial presence would add something to the
