No disrespect intended - just trying to present a little historical perspective around the film. Which you now must see in its entirety.

It's not strange casting at all. Cagney was a song and dance man in Vaudeville before becoming known as a gangster in films, and had been looking for ways to get away from his gangster persona because he found it constricting creatively. It was also directed by Michael Curtiz, who made a few flicks you may have…
It's a musical based on the life story of George M Cohan, a great American songwriter, dancer and singer (he produced, directed and starred in his own musicals, which is insane). The movie's production started just as Pearl Harbor happened, which is why the patriotic aspect of it is so prominent, but it's a great…
Cloud Atlas is an unmitigated mess - an interesting mess to be sure, but a mess with a capital M. There are good parts and absurdly bad aspects to it. Visually striking, yes. Great film, oh hell no. The book is infinitely better, and despite the nesting doll aspect of the narrative, much more coherent as well.
Cagney was fucking BRILLIANT in Yankee Doodle Dandy, and fully deserved an award for that electrifying performance.
Thank you for your valuable insight!
FOAM Corner.
It was a very mix and match show - some parts were very funny, and some parts sank like a stone. Much like a regular episode of SNL, just longer. I've been watching it since the late 70s, for better or worse, and I've seen, I think, every single episode (the VCR was a godsend).
The only mystery about Cosby is how he hasn't been arrested yet. HEY-OOOOOH!
That Odd Couple pic is annoying because Matthew Perry's supposed to be Oscar, and his t-shirt is cleaner than anything in my closet.
That's one of the reasons I left FB.

He may like to make money more than the others, but he's also been the most instrumental in keeping the Python flag flying high. He works his ass off, hiis books are funny, his songs are great, Spamalot is a blast, what's to dislike? He's awesome, more power to him.
Hakeem is as hard as a jelly donut.
Well, if you're gonna fall in love at first sight, Leslie Caron ain't a bad way to go… And the songs and dancing are just spectacular in An American In Paris. One of my favorite soundtracks ever. Plus Oscar Levant is like the Lewis Black of piano virtuosi, or something like that.
Lies! The members of neither Parliament nor Funkadelic did any such thing.
I just want to know why Kanye is so obsessed with Beyoncé winning awards?
They are an amazing band - I love Zep. They also stole lyrics, riffs and and multiple songs wholesale from lesser known black blues artists, not giving them songwriting credits or money (and making MILLIONS in the process). And have been sued and settled multiple claims regarding that. They did not "borrow." They took…
But don't you also think they should give songwriting credits to the folks they took riffs, lyrics, and songs from? Because they didn't and that's the issue here.
