I had postulated that Servant might be a dark retelling of the Pinocchio fairy tale. The Geppetto-like creator, at the beginning of this trailer, only reinforces that theory.  

Rise of the Guardians was an unexpected delight.   

Ralph Breaks The Internet is uneven, but I’m willing to forgive it’s shortcomings for this musical interlude.

Mayday, “a fantastical female-driven action film” focusing on “a young woman named Ana (Van Patten) who is transported to a dreamlike and dangerous land where she joins up with a band of female soldiers engaged in a never-ending war along a rugged coast.”

You get to meet the midichlorians, hear them talk, see them love and laugh. You really get to know who the midichlorians are.”

Instead of “Freejacking” soldiers, out of time, I almost find myself wishing that these “recruits” were like the Gholas from Dune or maybe the personality constructs from the Fred Saberhagen Berzerker short story “Wings out of Shadow”.*

My favorite is still a time displaced Jonah Hex.

Chris Pratt has our first look at the cast of The Tomorrow War. Formerly titled Ghost Draft, the film concerns soldiers from the past being brought forward in time to participate in a new war against alien invaders.

Wow, Mendelsohn went full Balian of Ibelin...

The story concerns a psychiatrist returning to “the insane asylum where her mother once worked” as a patient...

Seems less like Kate & Leopold than Just Visiting, with Jean Reno and Christina Applegate.

So how did you like the movie? Is it everything we’ve come to expect from Roland Emmerich? I guess I’ll find out tomorrow.  My friends convinced to go see it on Saturday. Oh well, at least it’s a night out.

Do war films get a pass on being reboots?

They are to blame as as much as anyone.  :)

I love me some Zorro and am totally cool with the idea of a female lead (I mean, the pencil thin mustache will take getting used to but I’ll deal :))
