It’s not a surprise, or at least it shouldn’t be. The margin among whites was the same in 2012 for Romney, and among college-educated whites the same as McCain in 2008.

Rural Democrats didn’t vote, assuming enough exist to matter. In most places, including Pennsylvania, urban Democrats came out in double-digit percentage increases over 2012.

For only registered voters (around 200M as of mid-October, as opposed to 230M+ eligible regardless of registration status), it was still a 37% plurality of voters who stayed home.

And per the exit polling, it’s due to cities voting a little better (+~5-10%) and rural going absolutely apeshit (up by 50-100% in some counties).

Trump won PA with 5,000 more votes than Obama received in 2012 and 300,000 more than Romney. The difference between Clinton and Trump was ~68,000 in favor of Trump. The difference between Obama and Romney was 287,865 in favor of Obama.

Or the Attorney General (Giuliani) or the Secretary of State (Gingrich)

PA just went Trump by about 80,000 votes, or 4/7ths of a Gary johnson.
