I agree. It has had some cool games, but Sony hasn’t seemed to understand it. I do think that just having a thing you can buy(like Nintendo’s 3DS) would have likely worked better than the piecemeal way they sold the Vita. And the pricing of it just couldn’t compete in a market with the 3DS and smartphones.

Considering they appear to have cut their losses on the Vita, I’m frankly surprised it hasn’t been seeing more sales. This report suggests the company is just trying to move on as best it can.

heh. Well, I figured I’d give an answer anyway. ;)

Only mention of the Vita I could find was the fact that Sony’s operating income was up this fiscal year in part thanks to strong PS4 software sales and no longer eating the costs of the Vita and PSTV felt in the prior fiscal year.

Not sure what titles sold best, but the report says software sales were really up and helped push their earnings.

Wow! Sold, not shipped? That’s impressive.

Wow! You can quote comments now? Very cool.

And traditionally they’d do the announcement, even a basic one, and then disclose it to investors/shareholders. Folks finding out from the meeting is the weird thing. It’s not like they need a big convention to announce something; they have their Nintendo Direct that can get a video out in a day’s notice.

I’m guessing it will have a controller with a screen though. They’ve gotta carry over Wii U titles to the NX. Though, yeah, I’d like it if that was less of a focus. 2 screens works better on a handheld where they’re next to each other.

Nintendo’s investor info often does have little hints of what’s to come, but a console release announcement is not a usual thing.

Sure, but like... the actual announcement came from the meeting. Then we got a quick nod to it on Twitter. It’s... weird.

I finally got enough coins to get Twilight Princess Picross; so, my use of Miitomo will likely be going down. Though if they added more you could do with friends, I’d likely give it more time.

My prediction: They temporarily make Miitomo fun after the initial 2 days or so.

If they felt that, they could have even just had a short video to the public, too. Having people find out from an investor report is bizarre.

I can dig it. Beam me up, Nintendo.

The Wii version had sharper graphics and 16x9. Plus fishing. Though it is true that there were trade-offs, like the controls and camera; so, it’s more like two “different” versions.

So it’s likely going to be a NX Launch title with a lesser version on the Wii U, just like Twilight Princess. I’m baffled by how this has been handled.

The only surprise is that they’d announce a launch window without officially announcing the product.

This is the strangest console announcement I’ve ever seen. Announcing a release without anything about it? And it’s coming out in March, after the holiday season? It’s not even going to be shown at E3? What is Nintendo doing?
