“Rise... if you would. For that is our curse.”
That Prince Lorian and Lothric fight was so amazing, and I’m glad to see it already getting some love like this.
heh. It’s alright.
Two years later, thanks for your input.
You and I are not in disagreement. heh. As I said, while the problem is generally about Asian actors, Major Kusanagi is a Japanese character that should be played by a Japanese actress. I was only using “Asian” to talk about the larger legacy of anti-Asian whitewashing in Hollywood history.
It’s an excuse when people looking to diminish any concerns over another example in a decades-long legacy of Hollywood racism come up with any possible explanation that those being criticized haven’t even offered. If they had gone into it saying, “She’ll be a white actress and we’ll explore that aspect of it,” that’d…
Choosing to hire a white actress for an Asian role, particularly in Hollywood with decades of history of using white actors instead of Asian actors, is not in any way similar to the choice of what chiseled white guy gets to play James Bond.
In my opinion, a distinctly Japanese character in a series distinctly about the social and technological concerns of 80s and 90s Japan shouldn’t be played by a white actress. And if they wanted to go that route, they could have made a new character without a Japanese name. Motoko Kusanagi is a Japanese character, and…
Oh I know. It’s more that I prefer plain black margins. ;)
I dig how they only filtered the textures a little bit, and the dialogue boxes look alright.
Any reason they didn’t seem to give any real fanfare with this? Seems like they just kinda tossed it out there.
heh. As the others clarified, I meant it as hit detect. The “cube” remark was just a quick, probably inefficient means to make it work and look alright. :)
You are correct. That is a version of what I was suggesting.
Yeah, for hit detect.
That’s why I said the direction of the sprites would be drawn based on the viewer’s position, not the actual cube’s position. Just rendering the sides on a cube would look weird. I mean managing the visuals of the racers depending on the viewing position, not the object’s position.
I suppose the cars could be rendered as cubes with the direction of the sprite determined by who is looking at it. So you’d always see from behind and opponents would see behind, sides, or front depending on their position. Wouldn’t be perfect, but it could be playable.
Cool.
Yeah, I’ve seen some stuff of it. Not sure if I can get into a MMO right now, but I hope Tree of Savior sticks around.
This has been out for 6 months. It’s literally the first thing that happens. It’s in the description. If you didn’t want to even know the premise, you’d have watched at least the first episode back when it came out half a year ago.
