I agree with you on revs, specifically side-stepping a clutch is the worst for a trans but this is not possible with DCT due to the ability of the computer to lockout abuse-like shifts/conditions.

Those DCT’s are matched to engines that don’t produce large amounts of torque down low. And effectively their high horsepower numbers are are more a by-product of high revs versus massive torque. FTR, I too am interested in how Tremec was able to get this trans to live and if GM/Dodge/etc will eventually be able to…
Dang sorry that happened to your Aunt. I agree the GS’s C6 or C7 are the money ticket in both lineups. The money you save can go so far into making the the C6 GS faster or C7 GS almost as fast as their big brothers, not mention the lighter weight helps with everything.
Where are the track days have you attended? My local track is VIR and in the dead of summer I know of plenty guys that can run full 20/25mins sessions fine. In my experience limp mode is rarer that people make it out to be.
I can attest to the challenges I’ve run into while deep in the middle of western NC’s mountain range. Funny story, way back in 2013 when I shot the vid below I made a comment about doing the speed limit (@4:20 mark ).
Robb is that something they changed with the C7? Because I know I’m use left foot braking on my C6 on the track and in the mountains.
My local tuner was trying to convince me to step up to his custom “mild” cam that’ll put between 460-480 RWHP to the ground. I chose not to because I daily my car and track it about 5 times a year so I wanted to stay with mostly stock parts. But on average I see warmed up LS3's making between 450-500 RWHP with good…
Yes, basically. I changed the oil, spark plugs, and installed new head bolts. Drove it for about a week then took it to a tuner to get the custom ECU tune.
I don’t know if I would say the LS3 is the better engine but I can say it is equally amazing. I finally got headers and raised the redline to 6800 for my c6 Grandsport and now the car is insane and screams from 3200 all the way up. I now firmly believe that an uncorked Ls3 is probably a 500'ish engine in stock trim…
Amen my brother... Amen.
Hey Robb,
So much of this...
This one seems strong.
Clearly the co-driver went in to re-routing mode.
I’ve had my C6 Grandsport for 4 years and put +75K miles on it, so here’s my measured breakdown: Highway —> 27-29 MPG @ 75ish MPH, Mixed work commute —>17-19 MPG, 1st Gear only Spot & Go —> 12-14 MPG, Track driving —> 6-8MPG. A similar equipped C7 should do about 2-4 MPGs better in each area.
lol the Internet never forgets
good point.
Unfortunately we will never know. I can tell you that about 2 months after that incident I received a letter with pictures from GM. I assume it was to “educate corvette owners” of where the manual door releases are located and how to use them. I just shook my head and wondered is this what we’ve come to as a nation.
Yea unfortunately that story mad very angry and really sad a man lost his life for two reasons. 1st: The manual door handle if VERY visible, literally all you have to do is look down to see it on both the driver and passenger side. 2nd: The majority of modern corvettes have removable tops (sans C6 Z06 & C6 ZR1). That…
Except for when you use the manual release in picture #4 huh...
