You have hit it on the head. Nothing in this video provides any evidence that Moats escalated the situation. In fact, friends of mine who are police officers explain that they want you to pull over in a reasonably safe place, even if it takes a few extra seconds. Moats simply drove to and parked at his very nearby

When someone bothers you for a task, find a nice way to tell them that you don't have time to complete the task right now. Some of my favorites:

Peppermint tea bags are great for any smaller enclosed area (a room that can be closed, a car, etc.) Throw 2-3 bags into the area. The first day it will be pretty minty; each successive day, the smell will diminish until about the fifth day. By then it will just smell clean.

LH,

I think part of it is having the willingness to laugh at yourself. In addition, this ability allows you to see your own faults so much better and actually acknowledge that the other person has a point.

@Iron: Life isn't fair. Reference Paris Hilton, etc. Haggling is a great skill and it's one that has immediate rewards. I think that the effort you put into your appearance, your knowledge, and your conversational skill should directly affect your success.

Negoiate a price and then buy it or walk away. Don't be a little theiving punk and then justify it as "savings", "discount", or "social engineering".

We used 'em for "save the date" reminders.

@Leisureguy: Great tip. Anyone can make a nice remark. A thoughtful compliment tuned to a choice/action/etc. is a less common skill.

I think one the most important answers to know about someone prior to any deep commitment is if they can laugh at themselves, even if someone else points out what is so funny. I think the right attitude helps us figure out what's really important and let's us enjoy each other's differences as the "spice of life".

Another car-friendly mod:

This is a function of each person's unique situation coupled with their own experience on what works.

Here's a tip: eat two meals on the weekend. Wake up late on both days, go to the cheapest all-you-can-eat and stuff your face. $12 to get you through the weekend. Sucks...but it works.

@Beki: You may also lose tax deductions on interest paid to school loans.

If you start with a card that has a high APR and low limit, don't just jump to another. Call the customer service line every 2-3 months to request a reduction in APR and increase in limit. Some credit card web sites will allow you to ask for and receive instant limit increases. If they don't want to work with you,

I'm conjuring an image of some barely capable corporate users summoning a help desk employee, cracking his pwd, and screwing things up on their machines and network.

I have time for exactly two blogs...Giz and LH. I'm content in knowing that the time spent reviewing the new posts and comments is rarely wasted.

Hmmm...clickthrough is an integrity challeging issue. Let's fleece online advertisers to provide for a charity.

What about just using a light strip (50-100 mini lights+wiring = $1)?
