@reynwrap582: Sorry the snarkiness is more to do with all "coloring" software for kids where they just point and click. A friend of mine thinks it's the best thing ever for her kids. I don't think they even own a box of real crayons anymore.

Yay, let's teach our children to color via paint bucket tool rather than actually coloring manually, at least it'll be good for their self-esteem.

The "Turn Your $60 Router into a $600 Router" was the first article I came across from Lifehacker. 10 minutes later and my Linksys router was up and running with the new firmware and was just amazing. Still using the same router today and it's going strong, I've never had a single issue with it (that I didn't cause,

I grew up watching him on "Almost Live" in Seattle, a local sketch comedy show that aired after SNL. Old episodes of the show are still run in the same slot, last I checked.

@PapaGamer: When my last car bit it, I went to Enterprise and had a perfectly good rental for $170 a week after fees. It took me about 10 days to find another car I was happy with (and I was being picky), so overall I spent about $250 one time, instead of $250 or more every month for car payments.

@veronykah: My wife's Honda Accord is 16 years old and also just about 197,000 miles. I keep expecting something to happen to it, but it just keeps going.

Man, all the rat hate makes me real sad. :(

@lalaland13: I have 6 rats, and they're all quite healthy and disease-free. Pet rats generally, at worst, get severe respiratory infections, tumors or abscesses, none of which are transmittable to humans and are very unlikely transmittable to the cat in this video. It's usually the fleas, ticks, and dirty

@rainbowsky: I honestly can't tell you the last time Lifehacker forced me to download and install software...probably because that's never happened. Some of us like to see what's new without having to check every odd blog on the internet, and Lifehacker happens to be one of the best resources for new productivity

It's nice to see this coming in Windows 7. I've been using Unlocker in WinXP, which automatically pops up when I try to move or a delete a file in use, telling me what is using it and giving me the option to unlock the file, or kill the process using it. Also has a delete-after-reboot option for really stubborn

@Saad Baig: No, you're supposed to NOT have the CD. When Windows asks you to insert your CD so that it can repair a file, don't let it, or it will just reverse what you did. It sees that the uxtheme file gets modified, and tries to repair it, but you don't want it to.

@Ryan Fisher: Yes because otherwise, nothing we ever do on our computers wastes time.

@redbeardjim: I got a similar error when I had my WinXP CD in. Removed it and it worked fine. You might have your install disc mirrored on your computer so that windows components can install without the disc. I had a Dell machine a few years ago that was preconfigured like that.

@iroQuai: I actually quite like it and have switched to it...for now, I'm sure that'll change eventually.

@bachya: Thanks for mentioning Dexpot. I've been avoiding VDM software for a while because I'd yet to find anything that I felt was stable and quick enough to use regularly...and that I would actually use. Dexpot looks to fulfill my requirements, and with the customized rules I can make, I can force my project

If you're looking for a cheaper version of this product, hit ebay and search for white balance lens cap in whatever size you need, you'll find similar products for under $10. Probably not perfect, but far cheaper.

My wife was born in Wuerzburg (which would be less impressive if we lived in Germany instead of Idaho).

@holyspidoo: Is there anything you DO like? :p

@squishyalt: If all they're doing is using my info to target ads at me, I'm not bothered. I prefer to have things advertised to me that I might actually be interested in, rather than the numerous dumb ads which were never of any use. I've discovered a number of useful services and products through targeted ads that
