Thank you. I hope you enjoy it.
Thank you. I hope you enjoy it.
Joker.
I didn’t so much consume some pop culture as have it hurled at me yesterday while waiting at a bus stop. A group of kids cycled past and one of them shouted “bus wankers!”
Once Upon a Time... In Hollywood. Good but I’m confused about the style/presentation of it in a way I’m struggling to write out. Essentially boils down to the out of nowhere narrator, the mixing of actual people with fictional ones and the effect of LSD dipped cigarettes on telling tales. The movie is certainly an expe…
I finished reading Friday Night Lights much quicker than anticipated. My knowledge of the game is limited - I saw Any Given Sunday years ago, that’s pretty much it - but I’ve been reading various sport books on and off over the years and this one was always highly recommend as being about more than the sport. It defini…
That is exactly the kind of stupid awesome I’d hoped for!
Hobbs & Shaw. I was hoping for dumb musclebound fun and it provides, strangely unsatisfactory though. I like the actors involved and love the idea of Idris “Black Superman” Elba’s character, just the execution lacking. For a movie with so much mass (mostly courtesy of Dwyane Johnson biceps) the action was weightless, s…
Trainwreck - have just watched this. Found it a really fun rom com, different enough that the same old beats make the novel aspects more fun which helps those beats go down easy. Like a pizza with a new topping combo, wild boar with chilli peppers perhaps. I even enjoyed the sports persons cameos. Special props to Cena…
I’ve not been able to get into the new Dragonball stuff myself but did recently pick up That Time I Got Reincarnated As Yamcha by dragongarow Lee, if you’ve not read it it's a one off manga that revists Toriyama’s Dragonball and is a lot of fun while still somehow feeling faithful to original.
Well, there’s a lot of pop culture I like, but on the other hand the unforeseen consequences of your time travel meant I sat through The Last Airbender film as hope slowly died in my heart.
Just seen Far From Home and while I agree it’s a shame they don’t at least have maybe some news clips - beyond those in the fun school news bulletin - of the trouble caused by the blip, particularly as it could feed so well into why a new hero like Mysterio is needed, I’m happy to let that pass because it is acknowledg…
Well, it was no garage. Sad to say we were in a comfortable living room which, given how rough the going was, was a good thing. It was fun though, thanks!
Thanks for the advice, will bear in mind for the continuation. It was a bit of a rough introduction, I think we were still expecting to play it like a board game so the story aspect of it suffered, but I enjoyed it. Biggest lesson learned: everyone needs a pen and paper and (slightly) less alcohol.
I’m playing in my first D&D game today. Excited. Haven’t quite figured out my character, despite a helpful creation sheet, which makes me a little nervous. We’re all new to the game though and I’ve a couple more hours to get sorted.
Samurai Jack.
i’ve still not seen a pig fly though.
everyone wears coats now.
the ninth circle makes for a lovely ice skating rink.
I agree about the Batman suit despite it’s limitations. As it happens I am listening to the Batman Forever “music from the motion picture” right now and wow, it’s a weird listen. It’s just gone from The Offspring to Nick Cave through Method Man onto a Michael Hutchence cover of The Passenger that is, well it’s somethin…
Now I know why the Just So stories didn’t include how unicorns became horses. Poor Charlie😂
