I have had the pleasure of experiencing all three cars and here's what I think.

The Z/28 model is actually complete, it's not a scale model or a mock-up. GM already completed work on the car and just has to release it.

Is this op-ed for real?

And still nobody will buy Saabs.

@Blaxpear: Newsflash, 99% of what GM makes is what people actually "need". Bland, FWD, four door cars with four and six cylinders. Whether people actually want to buy those types of cars from GM is another story.

No, the real question is who the Hell is going to buy it? It's going to be $40,000+. From a bankrupt company.

You're missing Dodge Charger SRT8 under "Also Consider".

What a terrible looking vehicle.

@Lyude: Except that the G8 GXP is a vastly better enthusiasts car. The new SHO is too big, overweight, badly styled and even worse inside. If anything they should have made a new SHO out of the Fusion's smaller, lighter, tidier package than the biggie-sized Taurus.

@PowerTryp: I sold my LS2 GTO for a G8, I'd say the G8 is much more fun. Why? Because the steering and handling is light years better and you're getting most of the thrust.

@typhoon5000: The LCD isn't the base option, it's part of the Premium Package, you can get a G8 with a base radio center stack. But why would you want to?

@Warren Yang: I'm in AZ and actually dealing on a GXP in the Bay Area. I'm specifically looking for one that was just delivered with low miles and not many, if any, test drives. There are GXPs here but many have 60 miles of test drives on them or are marked up or are not in the colors I want. So yeah, it's kind of

The interior is far better than what you writers are giving it credit for. Sit in a Camry or any other number of family sedans and it becomes immediately apparent how much nicer and sportier the G8 is inside. I especially love the leather, which is not the banana peel synthetic stuff found in the vast majority of cars

The GXP isn't significantly different inside than the V6, they're all the same basic car. And it's head and shoulders above most of what pollutes our roads in every respect. I really don't get the author's interior critique either, has he sat in a Camry lately?

No big loss, nobody bought either one of them. Literally.

Edmunds had a story awhile ago about a team using HUMMER H2s as storm chasing vehicles. That's a pretty epic use for them.

@SerialThriller: I was told the same thing by every dealer here. Unless someone backs out of their SS there's no way you can get one until GM adds more capacity to build them. Wow.

Well, they need it. All the dealers here in Phoenix sold out their SS allotments. They all have V6s available though, but who wants the V6? 6.2L or bust!

Uh, everyone should have known this for years given how badly Pontiacs sales have been
