Let’s be honest, too: there’s only so far you can take a donut. After that the returns not only diminish, but actually start negatively impacting said starch torus.

I had to doublecheck the quote because that isn’t actual English and I was assuming that the problem was shitty AV Club writing rather than Jennifer Lee having a stroke so I quickly Googled it and found another site giving a more probable quote. Just to be sure, I went to Youtube and found a video of her introduction…
For the show’s purposes, I think it’s fine to just have that happen because it’s funny and that’s all there is to it.
I don’t think the issue is with the tone. People who knew the She-Hulk comics already expected this tone. It was clear right from the teasers.
To be fair, though, none of the critiques here (especially from the reviewer) have anything to do with female lead-ness of it all. If anything, that’s the one praise it gets around these parts. After all, most of the commenters are Orphan Black fans who tuned in for Tatiana Maslany specifically.
I think the takeaway there is that there are plenty of men who make the right noises, but ultimately are only performative feminists. Hot doctor wanted sex with She-Hulk, but as soon as he was faced with the prospect of a relationship with Jen couldn’t even be bothered to keep the act up.

Say “mother–daughter”, not “mother-daughter”. En dashes, people! Merely hyphenating makes it seem like you’re referring to someone who is both a mother and a daughter.
Well, thank you for taking us on your journey?
In addition to missing the sarcasm, tons of modern working class jobs require a college education. Believe it or not, it is no longer 1964.
Yup, I used to work for a company that supplied communications equipment to ships, and a small part of that business was supplying and installing communications and tracking equipment for the panic rooms. The outdoor parts of such installations would frequently be concealed to look like something else, or even better,…
I dunno, I really liked this one because the whole cast was together for most of the episode. Like Lana, I wondered why Cheryl was in the field — even to the point of wondering if I’d somehow missed that she got trained during Archer’s coma — and was happy the show didn’t forget about me and delivered an explanation.…
