You as well! I was being a bit of a dick there, and I’m not really sure why, so sorry about that. It’s been a long couple weeks in my world. On a happier note: playing anything good at the moment?

If nothing else, I’m glad you enjoy them, even just as a viewer. I have nothing else of value to contribute on the matter, honestly, but I am completely unironically glad people like the series. It’s not for me, and I feel like it’s gotten more attention than it deserves, but that’s just my opinion, for whatever it…
That just further raises the question of why you needed to accuse me of being a “hater” while insisting that they provide hours of gameplay value and you view them as episodic (not sure how you could have opinions on any of those things without ever playing the games), but fair enough. Perhaps you were hoping to show…
And you seem like an overly zealous supporter determined to criticize those who criticize something you like. We’re both perfectly entitled to our positions, and I doubt either of us will change our minds on the matter, so why bother arguing with me about it?
Clearly this is simply a matter of differing opinions. You are cool with precise what I’m not, which I can understand and simply don’t agree with. Feel free to enjoy the games, and I’ll maintain my critical distance from them. No disrespect intended either; we clearly just don’t agree on this matter and I don’t think…
But 4 in a year? I think episodes would be a better way to think about it, but he’s the one with a 4 on the end and who decided to create 4 numbered sequels to a game within a year. I didn’t tell him to take that approach. It would certainly make me feel better about it, as I think there are plenty of great episodic…
I feel like more development time could allow for things like a switch in game engines, or more new mechanics that seem to add more to the formula. No matter how formulaic your game is, 4 of them in a single year still feels like entirely too much (to me, at least). If there are more, I’d hope that at least an engine…
I feel like changing the date to further call attention to the fact that the series has had 4 games within a single year isn’t the best plan. I’ve never understood the appeal of the series and don’t think it deserves the attention it’s gotten, but I’m glad people enjoy it, I suppose.
Edit: Just saw that he’s at least…
The amount that this is getting to me leaves me convinced I’ll be a blubbering baby when we lose Miyamoto. RIP Iwata.
This feels like it’s about a decade late for being topical, and not really shocking enough to make sense as something being made in 2015. Weird.
The lack of any form of 3D visuals was the dead giveaway to me. It would have been incredibly easy, and leaving them out told me that it was definitely coming to mobile, so I’m anything but shocked.
Anything that’s deliberately vague leaves room for that. I don’t know why but it does frustrate me sometimes when people take the mystery of vague storytelling seen in games like this and try to make a series of conclusions out of it, and “theories.” I like being able to puzzle over these sorts of things and think…
I don’t see how this implies cannibalism in any way. I’m sure plenty of animals have eaten and enjoyed humans, but it doesn’t in any way connect to cannibalism. Besides that, they say “in some places,” which suggests “not here.” Being aware that things eat you and enjoy it doesn’t have much of anything to do with…
I think if any game I was playing pulled shit like this, I’d be dropping out immediately. Naturally, this is from Red Bull, but I don’t think the opinion of the consumer over at Activision is any higher. I imagine it goes something like:
I was considering making a post very similar to this myself. Thanks for saving me the trouble. I literally can’t believe how much Activision seems to think their customers will take their shit. Evidently this kind of stuff doesn’t bother most of the consumer base, but it still shocks me every time I see it.
It’s probably been over a decade since I played Shenmue, so it may have aged poorly, but for what it was at the time, it was incredible. It also has that all important nostalgia factor for me as a result. Got it as a Christmas present in my teen years. Loved it to death.
I’m still holding out hope for PC releases of the first two games. I’m assuming SEGA has to have seen this, and will be smart enough to get those out maybe a few months to a year before Shenmue 3 hits to capitalize on the hype. But then, SEGA has never been one for shrewd business decisions, as nearly everything…
Came here expecting to see a comment very much like this. Was not disappointed.
I mean, I went in expecting the moon and stars. It made them seem cocky. Like they were saying “You know what? Smash DLC? New games with Amiibo on 3DS? Mother being translated and released? We don’t want all that getting in the way of the Digital Event, so let’s toss out the scraps early.” And frankly, all of that was…
I’m sure Japan doesn’t care nearly as much, and frankly, I don’t blame them. It’s kind of lame that an English language event gets all the good reveals from Japanese companies. Still, leaving their biggest market this unhappy is a piss poor idea, even if they want to keep their home market happy. Nintendo knows how…
